Damaged 2 by HM Ward

Damaged 2 by H. M. Ward

Home isn't supposed to be dangerous, but for Sidney it is. Returning home means that she has to face her past. It's not just the man who hurt Sidney that makes it horrible, but the family that didn't believe her. They were dead to her, but now that her mom is really dying things seem different. It's a chance to set things right.

What Sidney doesn't realize is that she's dragging Peter into a collision course with his past. Peter must deal with the demons haunting him if he wants to move forward with Sidney. He's willing to give up everything for her, even wade deeper into his past life to help her move forward. But, Peter isn't sure if he can get over what happened to him in New York.

5 out of 5 stars

Book two starts immediately where book one ended. I couldn’t put it down because I was immediately pulled back into the intensity and emotion.

This was such a amazing story! I love Sidney and Peter together. There was such a roller coaster of emotion going on. I love that Sydney was strong and unselfish and overcame so much. Peter is such a great character and we got to see a whole other side of him in this story. Their conversations and witty banter and playfulness were so real to me.

Their tender moments were beautiful written and several times throughout the book my heart was in my throat. Peter and Sidney’s romantic connections to one another were so romantic, sweet, and sensual all rolled into one. I was completely captivated.

Sean and Avery from The Arrangement series are in this book. I think Sean is an interesting, intense character and I’d like to learn more. Peter’s whole family is pretty intriguing actually so at this point anything having to do with the Ferro Brothers I want to get my hands on.

The turmoil that went on and the bit of drama and suspense were perfectly mixed in. Thank goodness for Mr. Turkey. He was a fabulous addition to the book. I’m serious about Mr. Turkey - I was laughing out loud and my family was looking at me like I was crazy!

I loved the ending. I was emotionally all over the place with it because it was so intense but I thought it was the perfect ending.

I am such a fan of H. M. Ward! Excellent author!

the arrangment 1
The Arrangement by H. M. Ward

Volume 1 in the bestselling Arrangement Serials
Genre: New Adult Romance Series

FML is becoming Avery's motto. Just when she doesn't think things could get any worse, they do. When her car stalls out at a busy intersection and she gets out to check under the hood, a guy steals her car. Armed with a dress and a pair of Chucks, Avery runs after the thief. When a hot stranger offers to help, she can't say no. That's how Avery meets Sean Ferro, the totally sexy, totally damaged guy with more secrets than she has time for.

Avery doesn't have time for anything anymore. Her is life falling apart and it's not just the car. It's everything, and it doesn't matter how tightly she tries to hold on, there's nothing left to hold on to. With the sudden death of her parents, it's only a matter of months until Avery's shot at college is gone, and she's living in a cardboard box. Other students have their families to rely on when things get bad. Avery has no one.

But there's one option, one incredibly sexy, morally devoid, option. If Avery takes a job as a call girl, one guy could save her. One client. One time. She just has to say yes.

Approximately 118 pages, Kindle edition

4 out of 5 stars

I absolutely enjoyed this story. I like the characters Sean and Avery and think they have an interesting attraction one another in the beginning. It was a fun start to the series - the first chapter was an awesome!

I think Avery is a strong girl but she is struggling, and will do whatever it takes to survive because she is on her own. I immediately like her and am rooting for her. Sean is an intriguing character and I can't wait to read more of the series and learn more about him and what his deal is.

This was a short, super quick read (finished in a couple hours) but I'm totally drawn in. I'm not normally one for short stories but I loved Damaged by H. M. Ward (see my review here) and wanted to read something else by her so I gave it a try - I'm hooked!

When it ended I was totally left hanging and wanting more. Since this book is short story in a series I was expecting it, I just wasn't expecting to be so wrapped up so fast. I wish it would have been longer! Thank goodness there are a total of 8 out so far so I wont have to wait long.

An entertaining, quick read!

Can he keep her safe from himself.

2 out of 5 stars

This book had an interesting concept, replaying a version of a modern day fairy tale but it was just okay for me and I never felt truly engaged.

The book jumps right into the story with only a little build up and then there is a lot going on throughout. Parts felt drawn out, and at times, a bit choppy. I tried to accept it as-is, knowing it was a fairy tale, but I never felt truly connected.

The two main characters were Red (Sam) and Ethan. Red doesn’t seem very strong to me, mostly overwhelmed, which I get considering her situation and background. I liked Ethan for the most part but at times there were internal battles with him and I just wanted to shake my head and say enough already. I did enjoy Ethan’s brothers. They were all very sweet and I liked them because they cared unconditionally for Ethan and Red and would do anything for them.

In the end it picked up and there was some drama. I enjoyed that but it wrapped up quickly, I wanted more. I like how the connection to the fairy tale was explained in the epilogue. I was happy that Red and Ethan got their happily ever after. After everything that happened, I wanted that for them.

Overall, I thought Little Red was just aright. I was curious enough about the characters to finish the story because I wanted to see how it played out.

Book received from author in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Trophy Husband by Lauren Blakely

trophy husband - lauren blakely

synopsisTrophy Husband by Lauren Blakely

Sometimes you can't help falling in love, even when you try to do the opposite...

Successful fashion blogger McKenna Bell has spent far too long protecting herself after the way her ex-fiancé left her at the altar for a college chick he met the night of his bachelor party. Loving again, trusting again, well, that's just not in the cards. Especially now that her ex is back in town with his new woman, demanding custody of McKenna's favorite creature in the whole world--her dog.

No effing way. McKenna's had enough of him, and she decides to even the score by finding her own hot young thing -- a Trophy Husband. Sure, she's only twenty-seven, but doesn't that make it even more fun -- and infuriating to her ex -- to pursue a younger man?

When she declares her intentions on her daily blog, her quest quickly skyrockets in popularity, and that's when Chris enters the picture, and he’s got all the assets. He's handsome, successful, and turns her inside out with a kiss to end all kisses, the kind that makes you feel like a shooting star.

But loving again could mean losing again, and it's so much easier to focus on getting even, isn't it? Unless, you just can't help falling in love. Which means McKenna will have to come face to face with what she really wants in life -- protecting her heart from hurt, or letting go of her fears of a new beginning.

3 out of 5 stars

I liked this book. I thought it was a fun, lighthearted story.

I thought the chemistry between the two main characters was great. I loved Chris! He was a funny, charming guy. His interactions with McKenna were well written and fun, there was lots of playful banter. I didn’t like the ex at all. I don’t think a character in a book has ever made me so uncomfortable. Not because of the content, just because he was such a jerk.

The book is about McKenna moving on, coming to terms with her past, and finding happiness. All in all I thought it was good but it didn’t blow me away and at times, it felt slightly predictable. I actually thought it would make a fantastic movie. It kind of reminded me of How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

I thought this was an entertaining, very chick lit type book with a slightly sappy ending but it was still sweet. I’m not going to lie, I few times at the end I did some half cries like I was watching a good chick flick movie.

I recommend it if you’re looking for a feel-good book to read. It was a cute story!
