This book was crazy good and I really liked it!
Sara seems to be one great big contradiction. She’s a bit back and forth with her logic but I like her internal battle. Her adventure started out by searching for Rebecca but I feel like it turned into her working on finding herself.
Sara and Chris have serious chemistry, a raw heat and pull towards one another. They both slowly open up and we learn a bit about them. By the end I felt like a knew more about Sara than Chris. And yes, there are some super hot sex scenes too.
The men are intense. Chris is a sexy, tortured artist that likes to be in control. I can see the change in him throughout the story and I'm completely captivated by this man. I want to know all his deep, dark secrets. Mark is an intriguing character. He's intimidating and controlling but I don’t feel like I learned a ton about him. I find Sara's fascination with Mark and how he effects her interesting. Chris is the type of alpha-male where I am all, heck ya! and Mark is the type I want to slap.
I did think it had a slow build in the beginning but around 30% I was fully invested. There is a steady build but towards the end I felt myself wanting more. I have a TON of unanswered questions. This is book one in the series and I feel like the author did a really great job laying the foundation for what’s to come next. I’m invested and will be continuing on with the series.
The ending. Shoot me now! There’s a cliffhanger. I am not a fan of cliffhangers but I knew it was coming before hand so that made it easier to accept. That being said, I might have held my breath a bit! Knowing that book two is available and I don’t have to wait helps.
All of these people are so messed up and complicated - I love it! Great mystery and intrigue. I’m looking forward to book two.
