Nexi Jones has lost her family, she’s been stripped of her guardian duties, and she’s still learning the ins and outs of white magic. At least she has Kyden, the smoldering hot elite guardian who’s been there for her every step of the way. But just as Nexi completes her training, tragedy strikes the Otherworld when a fellow guardian is murdered by a group of rogue vampires. Ready or not, she and Kyden trek into the Earthworld to hunt down a killer—and Nexi alone will be put to the ultimate test.

Although Kyden knows that Nexi must fight her own battles, his guardian instincts are raging as he struggles to keep her close. The ruthlessness of these vampires is like nothing he’s ever seen. And at their helm is the Black Witch Astoria, a demon with one burning desire: to shed Nexi’s blood in the name of vengeance. What troubles Kyden even more, though, is the warlock who covets Nexi’s heart. Let the devil do his worst . . . all Kyden can do is love and protect Nexi until his last breath.

Hard To Come By Cover

Hard to Come By (Hard Ink #3) by Laura Kaye

Caught between desire and loyalty…

Derek DiMarzio would do anything for the members of his disgraced Special Forces team—sacrifice his body, help a former teammate with a covert operation to restore their honor, and even go behind enemy lines. He just never expected to want the beautiful woman he found there.

When a sexy stranger asks questions about her brother, Emilie Garza is torn between loyalty to the brother she once idolized and fear of the war-changed man he's become. Derek’s easy smile and quiet strength tempt Emilie to open up, igniting the desire between them and leading Derek to crave a woman he shouldn’t trust.

As the team’s investigation reveals how powerful their enemies are, Derek and Emilie must prove where their loyalties lie before hearts are broken and lives are lost. Because love is too hard to come by to let slip away…

This is officially my favorite Hard Ink story to date! I love all the characters. They are well developed and detailed. I thought there was a great balance between the romance and mystery, love all the interactions with the special forces team and women. You can read my full 5 star review HERE.

HTCB Teaser 2

Excerpt intended for mature audiences, 18+.

Marz was playing with fire. He damn well knew he was. But that didn’t make him want to pull away.

He just wanted more of the heat.

Marz nuzzled the side of Emilie’s face with his nose, his lips. She turned her face toward him and offered her lips. He couldn’t refuse.

Capturing her mouth on a tortured groan, Marz poured every ounce of his longing and confusion and desire into the kiss. They grasped at each other and Emilie turned in his arms. He pinned her against the railing and planted his hands in her hair. She opened to him and accepted his tongue, sucking him in until Marz’s blood ran hot and his hard-on ached. He ground himself against her and devoured every little moan and whimper and gasp she spilled.

Trailing kisses from her mouth to her jaw to her ear, Marz dragged a hand down her body and grasped her breast in his palm. She cried out and her head dropped back, drawing his mouth to her neck, where he licked and sucked and nipped as he kneaded her soft flesh. “You are so damn sexy.”

Her hand flew to his hair and grasped the back of his head. “Touch me,” she said. “Don’t stop touching me.”

Marz pulled away long enough to do a three-sixty scan. The lighthouse cast a dark shadow over them, and the pier was otherwise empty. His heart raced and his pulse hammered. He dove back in, trailing kisses down her neck to her collarbone, which he traced with his tongue. Her nails scratched deliciously at his scalp and her grip urged him down.

Through the thin material of her blouse and bra, he mouthed and flicked at her nipple. He shifted the deep vee of the neckline to reveal a lacy royal blue bra. He tongued her through the lace until she was panting and moaning and writhing against the railing.

“Oh, my God,” she rasped as he shifted her shirt and moved to her other breast. This time, he tugged the lace down to bare the deep pink of her nipple. She tasted and smelled like something fruity and sweet, and it made Marz hunger for more. “Derek,” she gasped. “Yes, yes, yes.”

Her palm cupped and squeezed the bulge of his erection through his jeans. His hips jerked into the touch, craving more of her, all of her. He groaned and it seemed to egg her on, because she pressed and rubbed her hand against his trapped c*ck until he was panting and imagining taking her down to the ground.

“Jesus, Emilie, you’re driving me f*cking crazy,” he said as he worked kisses back up her body to her mouth.

“I know just what you mean,” she said. Her molten hot gaze met his. Eyes hooded, lips shiny and swollen, cheeks flushed, she was a freaking goddess standing under the moonlit sky. He felt the force of her beauty every bit as much in his chest as in his cock.

“You sure about that, babe?” he asked as he took her mouth in a deep, wet kiss. “Because my imagination has me stripping you of those f*ck-hot jeans.”

“Yeah?” She rubbed his c*ck in a long stroke with the heel of her hand. “Mine has us getting a room at the hotel back there. So I’m sure,” she said with a smile.

Marz’s heart hammered against his breastbone and his c*ck jerked, clearly liking her idea, too. Except, if he took her up on it, he was going to end up buried inside her for as long as she’d have him. And so long as this clusterf*ck of a situation defined their relationship, he couldn’t take things that far. Could he?

Overall: 5 stars | Performance: 5 stars | Story: 5 stars

Totally swoon worthy! *fans self* I felt just as pulled in while listening as I did when I was reading the book.

I loved the narrator’s voice! It was very inviting and alluring. It sounded so sexy and smooth while he read. I like the slight inflection when he does the other persons voice, it's subtle and not overdone. The sexy times sounded excellent, it sounded hot and never uncomfortable to me.

Clay and Julia are such great characters and some how hearing the audio made them even more appealing. Loved it! I found myself catching things in the audio that I didn't while reading that were really amusing.

I thought the sound quality was excellent. The narrators speaking voice was dynamic and kept me interested, and I thought the timing was great.

I love Clay and Julia, they are excellent characters with great chemistry. Clay is a heck of a dirty talker and I enjoyed their verbal sparing. The hot times in this book are just wow. I mean – WOW - off the charts, fans self, holy goodness, HOT!

I thought this story was extremely well written. It had a strong beginning, middle, and end with great character and plot development. It was evenly paced and had the right amount of drama mixed in. There was a nice balance between the story and the hot times as well. The author tells a wonderful story that really builds. Fantastic story!

Note: I have read the print addition of this book as well. You can read my full 5 star review HERE.

One Night - Denied

One Night: Denied (One Night #2) by Jodi Ellen Malpas

The passion that burned between Livy and Miller in One Night: Promised may end up destroying them both in this new novel of overwhelming desire and shocking discoveries...

He's amazingly wealthy, sinfully gorgeous, and can bring her to heights of pleasure she's never before known. For Livy, there's no turning back. She's determined to be the light in Miller Hart's dark world. Yet this new life comes with a steep price...

Miller knows that the power he possesses hasn't come without sacrifices-but he won't let Livy be one of them. Though he wants nothing more than to have her in every way, his first duty is to protect her at all costs...from his sins, his enemies, and especially himself.

But as their insatiable affair intensifies, the two attract the attention of an obsessive-and dangerous-third party. Discovering new revelations about Miller that rock her to the core, Livy will have to decide whether he's ruined beyond repair. And he must face his fear that in order to save her, he may have to lose her after all...

This was intense, crazy, super sexy and full of drama. Miller and Livy are fascinating yet frustrating characters I can't seem to get enough of them. I enjoyed this story immensely! You can read my full 4 star review HERE.

I know I look out of place as I stand near the gym entrance, clearly hesitant, and looking a little overwhelmed. All the machines look like spaceships, hundreds of buttons or levers on each one, and I haven’t the first idea how to operate them. My one-hour induction last week did a great job of distracting me, but the information and instructions fell straight from my memory the second I left the exclusive fitness center. I scan the area, fiddling with my ring, seeing masses of men and women pounding the treadmills, going hell for leather on the bikes and pumping weights on huge lifting devices. They all look like they know exactly what they’re doing.

In an attempt to blend in, I make my way over to the water machine and gulp down a cup of ice water. I’m wasting time being hesitant when I could be releasing some stress and anger. I spot a punching bag hanging in the far corner with no one within ten meters of it, so I decide to give it a try. There are no buttons or levers on that.

I help myself to the boxing gloves hanging on the wall nearby. After securing the Velcro, I give the bag a little poke. I’m surprised at how heavy it is. I inject some power into my weak arm and throw some effort into my next hit. I grunt too, and the bag shifts significantly this time, moving away from me and seeming to pause in midair before it’s on its way back toward me. Fast. I panic and quickly pull back my fist, then extend my arm to prevent being knocked to the ground. Shockwaves fly up my arm when my glove connects with the bag, but it’s moving away from me again. I smile and spread my legs a little, bracing myself for its return, then smack it hard again, sending it sailing away from me.

My arm is aching already and I suddenly realize I have two gloved hands so I pummel it with my left this time, smiling wider, the impact of the bag on my fists feeling good. I’m breaking out in a sweat, my feet are beginning to shift and my arms getting into a rhythm. My shouts of satisfaction spur me on and the bag morphs into more than a bag. I’m beating the shit out of it and loving every moment.

I don’t know how long I’m there, but when I finally let up and take a moment to think, I’m drenched, my knuckles are sore and my breathing erratic. I catch the bag and let it settle, then take a cautious glance around the gym. No one is staring. I’ve gone totally unnoticed, everyone focused on their own workout. I smile to myself and collect a cup of water and a towel from the nearby shelf, wiping my brow as I make my way from the huge room. For the first time in weeks, I feel prepared to take the day on.

I head toward the changing rooms, feeling like a lifetime of stress and woes have just been knocked out of me. The urge to go back in and pound for another hour is hard to resist, but I’m already at risk of being late for work so I push on, thinking this could get addictive. I’ll be back tomorrow morning, maybe even after work today, and I’ll thrash that bag until there are no more traces of Miller Hart and the pain he’s caused me.

I pass door after door, all with glass panes, and peek into each class that’s in session—yoga, spinning, kickboxing. I might try one or two. Or I could give them all a go.

As I’m passing the final door before the women’s changing rooms, something catches my eye. It’s a punching bag swinging from the ceiling hook, but no one’s in sight. I step closer to the door, then gasp and jump back as someone comes into view, bare chested and barefoot. I feel dizzy.

He has those shorts on, the ones he wore when he was trying to make me comfortable. I’m shaking, but my shock doesn’t stop me from peering back through the glass, just to check I wasn’t hallucinating. I wasn’t. He’s here, his ripped physique mesmerizing.  He looks violent as he attacks the hanging bag like it’s a threat to his life, punishing it with powerful punches and even more powerful kicks. His body weaves and dodges the bag when it comes back at him. He looks like a pro. He looks like a fighter.

I’m frozen on the spot as I watch Miller move around the hanging bag with ease, his fists wrapped in some kind of bandages, his limbs delivering controlled, punishing blows time and time again. Who does he see before him?

My mind spins, questions mounting, as I quietly observe the refined, well-mannered, part-time gentleman become a man possessed, that temper he has warned me about clear and present. But then I retreat a pace when he suddenly grabs the bag with both hands and rests his forehead on the leather, his body falling into the now subtle sway of the punching bag. His back is dripping and heaving, and I see his solid shoulders rise suddenly. Then he begins to turn toward the door. It happens in slow motion. I’m rooted in place as his chest, slicked with a sheen of sweat, comes into view and my eyes slowly crawl up his torso until I see his side profile. He knows he’s being watched.

The No Weddings Series by Kat Bastion

with Stone Bastion

No Weddings (#1)

Award-winning author Kat Bastion teams with her husband, Stone Bastion, in this first book in the No Weddings Series about Cade Michaelson, a successful man with his sights set on a new venture in business, and Hannah Martin, the woman who makes it personal.

I think I have my act together as a successful bar owner, my master’s degree within reach, and a list of no-strings-attached women warming my bed. Turns out, I don’t.

Hannah believes she has safeguarded her wounded heart by shunning men and focusing on her new baking business. The thing is, she hasn’t.

When my three sisters and I form an event-planning business with Hannah as our baker, I have no idea how my life is about to change. As Hannah and I work closely together, the attraction between us becomes irresistible. And complicated. I’ve promised my sisters I wouldn’t mix business with pleasure. But I’ve never been one to follow the rules.

One Funeral (#2)

The stakes climb higher in this second book in the No Weddings Series for Hannah Martin, a woman restrained by her past, and Cade Michaelson, the man who could help set her free.

I’m drawn to Cade as he charms his way into more of my life and offers me something I truly haven’t ever had: a friend. Yet his humor, patience, and drop-dead sexiness take my breath away, and I know my heart is at risk. I want to move forward but am terrified I can’t.

Cade seems to have it together from his own devastating heartache. His subtle actions, however, suggest a different story. And even though he says he wants more, I wonder if he’s able to trust in our developing relationship.

As we navigate through our tangled feelings, we vow to take it slow. Yet no matter how careful we try to be, things between us intensify—and there’s nothing we can do, or want to do, to stop it.

But the biggest question remains: Is chemistry enough to move beyond the past and toward a future together?

Two Bar Mitzvahs (#3)

Summer heats up in this third book in the No Weddings Series, where Cade Michaelson strives to balance his and Hannah Martin’s new relationship with the growing demands of his financial success.

Waiting for Hannah has been the best and worst kind of torture. Now I can claim her as mine. We believe we’re done with the past and can move forward together.

Hannah grows stronger than ever as she trusts in me—trusts in us. And when obstacles appear, she shows a surprising fierceness that rivals my own.

However, all is not perfect in paradise. Things get chaotic while I try to juggle multiple businesses, an ex from hell, and a girlfriend I’d do anything to keep. And in the middle of the whirlwind, I recklessly think I can handle everything.

But when all the madness is over, will I have everything I want—will I still have Hannah?

Amazon US | Amazon UK | B&N | iTunes

Three Christmases (#4)

As the holiday season approaches in this fourth book in the No Weddings Series, Cade Michaelson strives to be better at balancing work and love, and Hannah Martin’s growing ability to trust is put to the test.

Lust and friendship brought us together, but with the increasing demands of my two businesses, Hannah’s thriving bakery, and our successful event-planning company, stability becomes my focus.

Then a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity takes me to the West Coast, and everything goes into a tailspin.

Laughter, love, and excitement fill our lives, but Cade refuses to settle into the wonderful bliss we’ve found—he wants spectacular fireworks and an unshakable foundation. Driven like no one I’ve ever met, Cade insists a dream job across the country will be better for our future together, but I worry about whether we can survive the present apart.

When intimate time diminishes…and lives get more hectic…

Will a little bit of faith be all that it takes? Or will the sacrifice to get there be too great?

Coming Soon: For Valentine’s on January 5, 2015

This steamy nightcap novella, the fifth book in the No Weddings Series, takes us on a post-happily-ever-after adventure as Cade attempts to rewrite Valentine's Day with his new wife, Hannah.

Wedded bliss. After everything Hannah and I have been through, we finally have it. Yet dark dreams from my troubled past continue to escalate as we approach Valentine's Day.

Determined to fill our present with great memories that overtake all others, I plan a trip to New York--down to every scheduled detail. Yeah, there will even be a musical.

But Mother Nature has a few tricks up her sleeve. And the universe keeps throwing us curveballs...

Pre-order: Amazon US | Amazon UK

Cade and Hannah have a creative negotiation in NO WEDDINGS…

She held my gaze, cocking her head. “Hey, I’ve been meaning to pick your brain about something.”

I crossed my arms. “Sure, go ahe—” My stomach growled loudly, and I paused, blinking. “Wait, hold up a second.”

Rapid-fire thoughts flowed in. I needed a distraction. She wanted help. My thesis needed attention. Her business needed a shot of adrenaline and a direction in which to run. And I needed to eat…

“You need to feed me.”

She gaped, then her eyes narrowed as her mouth closed. “Excuse me?"

My gaze lingered on her full lips while my mind stuck on the split-second image of her wide-open mouth, and I totally blanked, guttering my thoughts. I swallowed, my throat bone-dry.

Her brow furrowed as I looked at her, likely as if I wanted to eat her. I shook my head, closing my eyes, banishing thoughts of burying my face between her bare legs, because I did want to. Shamelessly. Like a starving man.

I crossed my arms over my chest, sighing heavily while I tried valiantly to stay on topic. “You do cook, don’t you? Meals? Something other than desserts?”

She scoffed. “What do you think? I’m a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.” As if that was supposed to mean something to those of us who didn’t speak cooking-Greek.

“I think if you want help with your business, it will start costing you.” I scrubbed a hand over my chin, thinking this through.

She stared at me as if I’d gone insane.

“You cook a meal and feed me in exchange for one hour of my time. After dinner.”

Her hands flew out, that pretty jaw dropping again, before she pointed toward the front. “What do you think you’ve been doing up there all this time? Using my Wi-Fi, using my space as your own personal library? Now you’re charging me?”

I shrugged. “I don’t recall seeing a ‘no trespassing’ sign up there, and it wasn’t being utilized by any other customer while I offered you free advice. Plus, you had the added bonus of me breaking in your new couch.”

She blinked, looking dazed.

I snapped my fingers. “Now, focus, woman. Stop distracting me with nonessential information. We’re negotiating here.”

Her delicate brows arched higher over wide eyes. Then those shards of ice green were hidden behind narrowed lashes. “Two.”

“What?” I stood taller.

She came closer, exerting her confidence in our game. “Two. For every dinner I cook you, you will provide two hours of business advice.”

Now we were getting somewhere. I took a step closer, causing our bodies to almost touch.

Her face tilted up with my movement, holding my gaze, fearless.

I wanted to kiss her so badly in that moment, but I held fast, keeping my eye on the prize. Which definitely did not include kissing a baking Ice Queen. Not tonight, anyway.

“Two. For every dinner you cook me—a five-star, restaurant-worthy meal—I will give you two hours of my time afterward. One will be nothing but business, the other can be about any topic I choose, business or personal.”

“P-personal?” She shook her head.

I nodded mine. “Oh, yes. As personal as I want it to get.”

Her slender throat worked down a swallow. I knew I had her. She wanted my help too badly not to invest some time into getting more of what I had to offer.

“Fine.” She gave a single nod. A wisp of hair that had been falling down broke free, caressing her cheek. “Once a week for a few weeks should do it.”

“Three times a week. Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. We’ll do it for two months. More if you need it.”

She gaped again. My gaze dropped to those delectable lips once more.

Her tropical scent drifted up between us. My mind hazed, barely holding on to the details she and I worked out. Her soft body leaned into mine, heat scorching through the fabric of our clothes. Gauging by her nonreaction, she’d been so blown by my last counterproposal, she had no idea how close we’d become, how dangerous an edge we teetered on.

The desire to kiss her became undeniable, but I balked. The entire suggestion I’d made was ridiculous in light of the fact she was off-limits in so many ways, and yet, I couldn’t help myself.

I waited.

Her heated breath puffed little scorches through the cotton of my shirt.

She nodded, closing her eyes while she backed up a step. Then another. “Don’t ask me again, because I might change my mind.
