Let's Talk About That Story: August 2017

Well, hello August. Or should I say… hello end of August. Yikes! How did THAT happen? I was a total slacker this month enjoying the last bits of summer vacation with my son so I’m feeling rather behind on everything. Granted I had a great time hanging with him so I guess that’s a good trade off. However, that means this months Let’s Talk is just now getting out into the world. So, Let’s Talk About August….

Did all the authors get together and decide August would be a great month for new releases? Apparently so because there have been a gazillion! Well, not a gazillion but a lot… more than this one woman show can keep up with. I have read quite a few already though and have a lot more on my list. Can’t wait to get to them all.

Wolf's Mate: A Paranormal Shifter Romance (Shifter Rogues) by [Kyle, Celia] Devil's Cut: A Bourbon Kings Novel (The Bourbon Kings) by [Ward, J.R.] The Flirtation (The Submissive Series Book 10) by [Me, Tara Sue] Royally Endowed (The Royally Series Book 3) by [Chase, Emma]

Irresistible You (The Chicago Rebels Series Book 1) by [Meader, Kate] Ready to Run (I Do, I Don't) by [Layne, Lauren] The Duchess Deal: Girl Meets Duke by [Dare, Tessa]

Reviews:

Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kyle – This was so fun, I had a blast reading it.

Devil’s Cut by J. R. Ward – This was EPIC! Such an amazing trilogy!

The Flirtation by Tara Sue Me – Get ready for a fun, hot read! Another excellent addition to The Submissive series.

Royally Endowed by Emma Chase – *sigh* This was brilliant and beautiful and so romantic!

Irresistible You by Kate Meader – This had the perfect blend of animosity, playfulness and heat. Loved it!

Ready to Run by Lauren Layne – Charming, sweet and sexy. And funny!

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare – This was wickedly charming. Such an entertaining read! (and no one fall out of their chair because I even read a historical romance!!!)

But wait! There’s more! New releases galore!!! (That totally rhymes!). I still need to get to the following or they haven’t been released yet.

Skirt Chaser (Filthy Dirty Love Book 2) by [Kennedy, Stacey] The Time in Between (The Magdalene Series Book 3) by [Ashley, Kristen] Maybe I Do: A Whiskey and Weddings Novel by [McLaughlin, Nicole] Can't Hardly Breathe (Original Heartbreakers) by [Showalter, Gena] The Lady of Royale Street (NOLA Nights Book 3) by [de Salle, Thea]

I really tried to reign in the books that are on my radar this month. It’s hard though because I am always actively seeking books I will love and when a friend recommends a book and I love the synopsis, I feel compelled to add it to my TBR. Most are contemporary romances  with some extra hot ones thrown in but I’m also adding two historical’s to my list. More Tessa Dare because The Duchess Deal was awesome an I’m added (then immediately started to read) In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks because I want to try some historical heat. ;-)

Breaching the Contract (The Conflict of Interest Series) A SEAL's Courage (Military Match #1) Misadventures of a City Girl (Misadventures, #1) A Night to Surrender (Spindle Cove, #1) Dirty Little Secret (Forbidden Desires, #1)

In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) Temporary So Good (Alpha Dogs, #1) Wicked Envy (The Wicked Horse Vegas, #3) Unconventional

With my reading time going up, my listening time is down but I’ve still got some audio book love to share.

I’m currently listening to Rock Chick Reckoning by Kristen Ashley. I think I have listen to a KA book just about every month this year. I love the narrators and how they draw me into the story. I love the Rock Chick series and have been reading via audio book to gear up to read Ally’s story, Rock Chick Revolution.

I had the opportunity to listen to Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. This is one of my favorite books, it was my first Alice Clayton book, and the book the made me fall in love with the author. I read it way back when in 2013 so it was awesome to get to relive the story. Read my original review HERE. I forgot what an amazing slow burn there was. Simon and Caroline are fantastic!

My original Fitbit Charge HR bit the dust so I upgraded to a Fitbit Charge 2. I’m kind of in love with it. Besides tracking my steps, I can track my workouts and I like being able to compare them so this tool is a big motivator for me.

The Fitbit Charge 2 has the ability to switch out the bands so I ordered myself some prettiness to accessorize and mix it up. I’m thinking with 15 different bands to choose from I can find something to wear. ;-)

Steel Brothers Saga (9 Book Series) by Helen Hardt

I won the audio books for the Steel Brothers series by Helen Hardt in a Twitter giveaway. Go me! I’ve got six books waiting for me to listen too. I’ve never had them on disc before so that’s kind of cool to have a physical thing. I’m still going to load them onto my phone… no one needs to listen to what I’m listening too if they’re as steamy as I think they’re going to be, lol! A big thank you to Helen Hardt. Find her on Twitter HERE.

School has started so hopefully that means that I won’t be so much of a blogging slacker. I didn’t do to bad but come on, it’s late August and I’m just now getting to this feature. Normally I’m all ebb and flow, but I kind of feel guilty for being late this time around. Fingers crossed for a more organized September.

Already, that’s it. Sending much love and good reading vibes your way! xo

Hope you’re August has been great. Let me know what you’re reading!!!
