Book Review: Stay by Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen

I love it when I'm reading and completely lose track of time because I am so immersed in the world the author created. That's exactly what happened with Stay. This was so flipping entertaining with the best characters. Be sure to check it out!

Stay (WAGs #2) by Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen

synopsis_thumb2_thumb
From New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy and USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen comes the next in the spin-off series of their wildly successful Him and Us books.

"I'm ridiculously attracted to you, Hottie. I figured I should be up front about that."

"Shut up and kiss me again, Snipes."

Hailey Taylor Emery has a hunch that Sniper87, her favorite client at Fetch—the anonymous virtual assistant service she runs with her ex-husband—is actually gorgeous hockey superstar Matt Eriksson. It's against the rules to check his file, but she's pretty sure she spends every day texting her lifelong crush and catering to his every need. Still processing her recent divorce, Hailey is perfectly content for this to be nothing but harmless online flirting…until Sniper87 wants to meet her. Face to face. Cue: utter panic.

Matt Eriksson is no stranger to heartbreak. He's still not over the destruction of his own marriage, and it sucks to be the only guy on his team who knows the truth: that hockey and long-term relationships are a toxic mix. He barely sees his kids, and dealing with his ex makes him feel worthless. The only person in his life who seems to understand is someone who won't show her pretty face: the mysterious HTE, aka "Hottie."

Surely, though, it's nothing a pair of fourth row hockey seats can't fix. Superfan Hailey can't resist the offer, and Matt can't resist Hailey. But when the phone screens come down, can they get past their baggage long enough to build something real?

5 out of 5 stars

I absolutely loved Stay! It was fun, sweet, and flirty, and I couldn't get enough. I loved Matt and Hailey and the evolution of their relationship. It was filled with so many entertaining moments and heartfelt goodness. It was light and sexy, and it made me happy to read from start to finish.

I loved how Hailey secretly crushed on Matt and he was intrigued by her. The text messages between them were adorable. I loved their interactions and thoughts on each other before they officially met, and the perfection of the first time they actually met. I loved how Matt seemed to be in hot pursuit, this man was such a sweetheart. I thought they had fantastic chemistry, and I loved the playfulness and flirting between them. I felt for them after learning about their past, but I loved watching them grow and gain confidence and stand up for themselves when the time came. When the heat kicked in, the steam was definitely steaming, and I was a fan of Matt and his dirty-talking mouth.

Of course, there are stressors added, but it was pretty low-key in the angst department. There's a great cast of characters that added so much fun. I loved Matt’s teammates and how the WAGs brought Hailey into the fold, and it was nice seeing Jess and Blake again. Matt's daughters were the cutest. There was also an intriguing and charming little side story about a Fetch client that I totally enjoyed.

This was just an outright delight to read. I thought it flowed well and had a great build and details with just the right amount of emotion added. Incredibly entertaining story!
