Book Review: Under an Endless Moon by A.L. Jackson

Raven and Otto's story did not disappoint. It was intense and passionate and it had me captivated the entire time as they worked through their past to have a future. The second book in the Moonlit Ridge series was a winner.

I should have known I’d break the oath I made when I offered to let my best friend’s little sister move in with me…

She’s the sweetest woman on the face of the planet.

And to my great misfortune, the sexiest one, too.

She’s been living under her brother’s roof her entire life, and she’s ready to spread her wings.

And I’m the masochist who offers she stay at my place until she can find an apartment.

When I hear her having a nightmare, the only thing I can do is go to her. Hold her so she knows she’s safe from her demons.

The second she’s in my arms, the attraction I’ve tried to hide sparks to life. I know better than to push past the boundaries I’ve set for us, but when she begs me to touch her in a way she’s never been touched, I can’t resist.

And with my name on her lips as I send her soaring for the first time, I know there’s no going back.

I’m willing to break every rule and oath I’ve ever made to keep her.

Accept every consequence.

Only she and I have a dark, dangerous history that no one knows about.

And I’m afraid the consequences of loving her have just caught up to us…

4 out of 5 stars

Under an Endless Moon had an intense, somber vibe right from the start and I was immediately pulled in. I had a million questions, and I hung on every word as I learned about Otto, Raven, and their past. There was a great build as everything unfolded, layers upon layers of secrets and tension and angst and a longing between them that I could feel. This was a well-written and detailed story that captivated me.

I felt so much for Otto and Raven. They had several obstacles in their way, making it seem like a future together was off-limits. I hurt for Otto about his past and why he held himself back from Raven. I was devastated for Raven and all she had endured but I loved how she worked hard to reclaim her life. She was such a bright light that exuded happiness. The longing and need between them was palpable and filled with so much sexual tension. When that passion between them exploded into more, it was beyond hot. There was a past-present storytelling happening and I thought it was well done. The development of what happened in the past and what was happening in the present day aligned perfectly.

I loved the men and their bonds and the mission they are on. I loved Raven and Charleigh’s friendship and how they’re there for one another. Their found family is unique and special. I enjoyed the drama throughout the story. While that drama sometimes felt low-key, it was those building elements that made for an action-packed ending that had me hooked. There was a lot happening and I was into it all, excited as everything came to light.

This was just a really awesome story that had me invested the entire time. The writing flowed in a unique way, pulling me in. I am loving this world the author has created and am looking forward to the next book, At the Edge of Surrender
