Two of my favorite tropes in one book? Yes, please! Pitcher Perfect had the perfect combination of enemies-to-lovers and fake dating, and I was all about it. Robbie and Skylar had such a fun story, and I enjoyed every second!
Pitcher Perfect (Big Shots #4) by Tessa Bailey
Boston Bearcats rookie Robbie Corrigan is living the dream. He’s made it to the NHL, his best friend/teammate and fellow “orgasm donor” is his roomie—and the women of Boston love them both. Life is sweet. That is, until he meets Skylar Paige, division 1 softball pitcher, girl least likely to take anyone’s bull…and the one member of the opposite sex immune to his charms. Robbie might be dazzled by the badass pitcher, but Skylar pegs him as a filthy player and wants nothing to do with him.
When he discovers she’s carrying a serious torch for her brother’s best friend, Robbie knows he should just go back to clubbing and whipped cream bikini parties, but he can’t seem to leave Skylar to flounder on her romantic quest to land another man. Nor can he miss out on the opportunity to spend time with her and hopefully redeem himself. Before Robbie knows it, he’s agreed to be Skylar’s fake boyfriend/love coach at an upcoming family wilderness competition where her crush will be in attendance. What could go wrong?
Through a series of contests that require them to trust each other, Robbie and Skylar grow closer and closer until their fake relationship starts to feel like the realest thing they’ve ever known and the sizzling lessons in sensuality burn out of control.
But it’s all just pretend…right?

I had a blast reading Pitcher Perfect! Robbie
and Skylar were great characters, and I loved the enemies-to-lovers vibe they
had happening in the beginning. It was a highly entertaining story with low
drama and good heat. It was filled with fun scenes that had me smiling the
entire time. Who knew that I would love Orgasm Donor #1 as much as I did?
Skylar seemed a little straightlaced and uptight, and Robbie is outgoing and has a womanizing reputation. They do not hit it off right away, so
they had some awesome verbal sparring happening to really kick things off. I
liked how the story evolved, and fake dating came into play. I loved the
complications and mild drama when feelings started to develop and things heated up.
It was flirty and playful, and I loved how they saw each other for who they really were, not just what the world perceived. They had a sweet, building
relationship happening with some minor ups and downs, and I enjoyed it. I liked
watching Sklyar come out of her shell and Robbie owning up to past mistakes and
working to be a better person.
Adding to the entertainment value were Robbie’s teammates.
Burgess and Sig are always fun, and I liked the hints that involved Mailer. It would be wonderful to see him get a story. Skylar’s family was in the mix, and
they had some of their own things to work out. I liked the side story
happening there.
This was a charming and witty story that was a great
time to read. It wasn't super in-depth, but it gave me just what I needed to keep
the story moving along. It was a fun read with likable characters, a
lot of heart, and just the right amount of spice!

Which trope do you like more: enemies-to-lovers or fake dating? Let me know! It's enemies-to-lovers for me, but thankfully, this book had a great combination of both.
