Let’s Talk About That Story: May 2017

ats-may2017

Happy May everyone! I hope your month is going well. I’m getting ready for the end of the school year, less than a month to go. You have no idea how much I’m looking forward to not making lunches at 6am. I am definitely counting down the days. The month seems to be flying by for sure. I’m also pretty much in book heaven with all the awesomeness that’s happeing this month. So, Let’s Talk About That Story shall we?!

May is turning out to be a very good month. I am thrilled with what has already been released and what is yet to come. I feel incredibly lucky to receive advanced copies of so many great books and that I am able to shout to the rooftops how awesome they are. So, let’s talk about what’s new in April…

In Skates Trouble (The Chicago Rebels Series) by [Kate Meader] Pipe Dreams (A Brooklyn Bruisers Novel) by [Bowen, Sarina]

In Skates Trouble by Kate Meader [My review] – I originally read and reviewed this as part of an anthology but since then it’s been released on its own. Excellent way to kick of a new series!

Joy Ride by Lauren Blakely [My review] – Lauren Blakely never ceases to amaze me. She writes the perfect mix of sexy and funny!

Pipe Dreams by Sarina Bowen [My review] – This might be my favorite one. Not even kidding. I loved Mike!

Sex in the Sticks by Sawyer Bennett [My review] – Laugh out loud funny and sexy, I couldn’t get enough.

The Queen of Dauphine Street (NOLA Nights Book 2) by [de Salle, Thea]  Dating-ish (Knitting in the City Book 6) by [Reid, Penny]

Public Relations by Kate Heaney & Arianna Rebolini – I thought the synopsis looked super cute and I had to add it.

The Queen of Dauphine Street by Thea De Salle – The first book in the series, The King of Bourbon Street, was super HOT and I didn’t want to miss the second installment. I hope it brings the heat.

Dating-ish by Penny Reid – Because it’s Penny Reid! I love her work and am looking forward to starting this Knitting in the City series.

Hold Me by J. Kenner – J. Kenner is a favorite of mine. Know way will I say no to more Nikki and Damien.

Buns (The Hudson Valley Series Book 3) by [Clayton, Alice] Forbidden Promises (The O'Malleys Book 4) by [Robert, Katee]

Buns by Alice Clayton – This is the best series! I was all about Buns!

Shacking Up by Helena Hunting – There was no way I was missing this. I’m behind on the Pucked series since I insist on reading books in order, so I jumped at the chance to read this standalone story.

Forbidden Promises by Katee Robert – Get ready for some serious intrigue!

Black Tie Optional by Ann Marie Walker – A new standalone romantic comedy from Ann Marie Walker? Yes, please!

Let’s talk about my latest Goodreads finds… these are just a few I’ve added to my ever growing TBR. It could have been the cover that grabbed me, the synopsis, or something that was recommended to me from a book blogging friend, either way, it’s now on my radar.

Plus One The CEO Buys In (Wager of Hearts, #1) Wicked Abyss (Immortals After Dark, #18)
Jilted (Love Hurts, #2) The Farthest Edge (Honey #2) Wicked Grind (Stark World Novels, #1)

then-now-next

Alex 1 Deadly Silence

I didn’t do a Then, Now, Next last month but I’m bound and determined to do it this month. It’s basically what I just finished reading, what I’m currently reading, and what I’m planning on reading next. The problem is I haven’t decided what I’m reading next. So, I guess that means you’re just getting a then and now. I’ll need to scope out my TBR Short List to decide. You need to be friends with me on Goodreads to access that list, so if you’re not, feel free to add me.

reviews-coming-soon_thumb2

Let’s talk about the reviews that are coming soon… I said it before and I’ll say it again, May has been an awesome month and I’ll have more reviews posted soon. A few of these will be posted in June and others were free reads and I’m not sure when I’ll have them up but I’ll be posting them in the near future.

Shacking Up Into the Blue

Buns by Alice Clayton (5/23) – Alice Clayton knocked it out of the park. Again. I adored Buns!

Shacking Up by Helena Hunting (5/30) – I laughed. And laughed. And laughed. Helena Hunting is a genius.

Forbidden Promises by Katee Robert (5/30) – I love this series and thought this was an excellent edition.

Dating You/Hating You by Christina Lauren (6/6) – Get ready for some fun and animosity in this new standalone from Christina Lauren.

Silver Silence by Nalini Singh (6/13) – I had never read anything from this author before and am really excited where this series will go. A really great paranormal romance!

Beauty and the Mustache by Penny Reid – Ashely and Drew were fantastic. Totally kicking myself for reading this series out of order.

Into the Blue by Chanel Cleeton – I can’t get enough of the men from the Wild Aces. This was wonderful!!!

My audio book love is pretty high this month. After waiting forever for Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley [My review] to become available from the library, I finally got to listen to it. This is one of my favorite KA books. It’s a long sucker, around 25 hours but worth ever minute. I swear I was just as caught up listening as I was reading.

I decided to treat myself to two new audio books from Audible. Wicked Fall by Sawyer Bennett [My review] and Fixed On You by Laurelin Paige [My review]. I got them both at a discounted sale price since I own the Kindle editions.

And speaking of buying Audible books. I had a big ol’ duh moment when I realized that just because you buy the Kindle edition, the sale price doesn’t last forever. There were a few books I wanted to get but put off since I just assumed that once I bought it for Kindle version, the audio version would always be on sale. Wrong. Sale prices disappeared. I missed out. Lesson learned. That’s why I grabbed Wicked Fall and Fixed On You, I didn’t want to lose my chance of getting a great deal.

Next up from the library is Listen to Me by Kristen Proby [My review]. This was one of my Top Reads of 2016 and I’m looking forward to rereading it again via audio.

Time for the randomness… otherwise known as me rambling and sharing whatever pops into my head because I can.

Last month I mentioned I decided to get my Green Thumb on and planted flowers outside as well as a lemon tree. I’m happy to report they’re still alive. It’s a miracle!

My oldest son graduates from college this month. I’m going to file this under things that are amazingly awesome and things that make me feel old. I’m (obviously!) super proud of him and am thrilled that he has a real grown up job lined up. :-)

I’m still in love with my Instant Pot. It’s one of the best items I have ever purchased for my kitchen and use it at least twice a week. For fun, here’s the last recipe I made: Pressure Cooker Meatloaf. It turned out perfect! If you have an Instant Pot, feel free to check out my Instant Pot Recipe Board on Pinterest. Do you have any favorite kitchen gadgets you can’t live without?

And ladies and gentleman…that’s all she wrote for this months Let’s Talk About That Story. I’ve got a book to finish, reviews to edit, and things to clean. Well, let’s be honest, I’m writing this up on a Friday which means I probably won’t be cleaning jack but we can pretend, lol!

What are you reading and listening to? Any new books I need to add to my TBR? Any questions for me? Tell me about your May!
