A Starstruck Kiss

A Starstruck Kiss (Wrapped Up in Love #1)

by Lauren Blakely

A sexy and swoony new adult romance...

There are no two ways about it — William Harrigan is a certified babe. He’s sexy, smart, and British, and he wants nothing more than to charm the pants off fellow college senior Jess Leighton. Well, he does want other things; he just can’t tell her about the job he’s working on since it maybe, possibly involves her. Jess, who moonlights as a celebrity photographer, is laser-focused on earning enough money snapping pics to pay her way through grad school, but when the criminally handsome William starts moving in on her turf, she’s got to fend off the competition from him as well as resist her desire to smother him in kisses because William makes her heart race and her skin sizzle.

Too bad this man is not to be trusted.

Right? Except if Jess wants to snag the million-dollar picture she desperately needs, she’ll have no choice but to trust Will, and he’ll have to come clean about everything he wants from Jess. Including her.

*A STARSTRUCK KISS is book 1 in WRAPPED UP IN LOVE, a spin-off series of the NYT Bestselling CAUGHT UP IN LOVE series.*

5 out of 5 stars

Great introduction to the new series – loved it! This story is told from dual POV's and it was a fun and flirty. I think great foundation was set for what’s to come.

I really liked Jess and was totally intrigued by her job and determination. She seemed so very real to me, they both did. I loved William, he was so sweet and sexy. “Hot. British. Rides a motorcycle.” I was sold! I kept wanting to know what he was up to and what secrets he was keeping, I was definitely invested.

Jess and William together are just awesome. Their banter was excellent and they definitely have chemistry! They had great conversations, there were some really fun parts (loved their texting) and there were some steamy parts as well. Just like the title says, there is a kiss involved and I could totally feel it. Totally swoon worthy! Can't wait for more from these two.

Loved the connections to other books, that always makes me smile. I just found it all highly entertaining and I loved all the movie references as well. Bring on Stars in Their Eyes!!!

One Funeral (No Weddings #2)

by Kat Bastion with Stone Bastion

The stakes climb higher in this second book in the No Weddings Series for Hannah Martin, a woman restrained by her past, and Cade Michaelson, the man who could help set her free.

I’m drawn to Cade as he charms his way into more of my life and offers me something I truly haven’t ever had: a friend. Yet his humor, patience, and drop-dead sexiness take my breath away, and I know my heart is at risk. I want to move forward but am terrified I can’t.

Cade seems to have it together from his own devastating heartache. His subtle actions, however, suggest a different story. And even though he says he wants more, I wonder if he’s able to trust in our developing relationship.

As we navigate through our tangled feelings, we vow to take it slow. Yet no matter how careful we try to be, things between us intensify—and there’s nothing we can do, or want to do, to stop it.

But the biggest question remains: Is chemistry enough to move beyond the past and toward a future together?

*** PLEASE NOTE *** Scorching (explicit) sex scenes. Fire extinguisher highly recommended.

At the faux-funeral, Cade teases Hannah about bathroom trips…and other things…

We stepped out into the main room, which was done up just like a funeral viewing, from the spray of flowers at the front to the rows of uncomfortable-looking chairs. And of course, there was a huge ornate cross up on the dais, but then again, we were in a church.

Okay, this isn’t so bad. It’s a funeral.

After a quick scan of the room, I saw Cade. He looked miserable until the moment his gaze locked onto mine. Then he dropped his head, slumping in shame.

I burst out laughing.

Drawn to him, I crossed the room without a second thought. “Nice tie.”

He tugged at the bright collar at his neck, grumbling, “Don’t forget the cummerbund.”

“That’s nothing. Look at me.” I plucked at the shiny, pink fabric. “Isn’t this the most ghastly thing ever to be called a dress? It’s a monstrosity in taffeta.”

He backed up a step, making a show of visually drinking in my entire body from head to toe. “I don’t know, Maestro. All I see is a burlap bag.” His eyes flickered with heat. “And petticoats.”

My legs bounced with sudden excitement, and I forced air out of my lungs on a slow exhale. Cade did things to me—heated, body-rocking, mind-spinning things—and I wanted unlimited amounts of that kind of medicine tonight.

How ironic. I wanted some of Cade’s wild-and-crazy to calm me.

“I need you tonight, Cade. This whole” —I gestured frantically to my outfit, then his— “getup is freaking me out a little.”

He put firm hands on my shoulders, staring hard at me. “A little?”

I thought about the great strides I’d made in therapy and how what I believed became reality. I was stronger than a bridesmaid dress. I’d learned how to separate my present from my past in therapy, and there was no way I was going to let all of that progress unravel now.

Tonight, in a bright pink bridesmaid dress, I made a vow to myself to enjoy the present moment.

I tilted my head and shook it. “No, I’m okay. Even if what I’m wearing is a travesty.”

He pulled me closer and held me against his solid chest, wrapping his arms around me. “But I liked the whole ‘I need you’ part. What if I never leave your side tonight? Would that help?”

I nodded.

“Done.” He pulled back. “So to clarify the details, if I have to lift and hold your petticoats while you pee, will you lift and hold something when it’s my turn?” Wicked eyes glittered down at me.

I gaped. “You are not lifting anything of mine while I pee.”

“But I’m never leaving your side tonight.”

I cast him a sidelong glance, grumbling, “What did I just agree to?”

He chuckled, flagging down a waiter who held a tray of filled Champagne glasses. “Something very interesting from my point of view.” He grabbed two glasses. “Here, drink up. The night is young, and I intend to accompany you to no less than three bathroom trips.”

I jabbed an elbow into his ribs. “Pig.”

He coughed until his shoulders shook from laughter.

I swiped a glass from his hand and glared at him while I drank down the liquid courage, not yet caring that it would make his petticoat-lifting wishes come true.

He slid his hands into his pants pockets, rocking back on his heels, as the corners of his lips twitched. “Actually, I’ve been told I’m hung like a horse.”

I sputtered, choking on my Champagne.

He grinned. “Care to confirm?” He chugged his glass, a crime with the ten-dollars-per-swallow Cristal. “I’ll keep up with you. Then we’ll each fulfill our end of the bargain. Lift and hold. Keep practicing the technique in your mind.”

“I am not holding…there’s no way I’m touching…”

Cade grinned and leaned down, brushing his lips along my jawline. His hot breath fanned an erotic path up the side of my neck until a kiss caressed my ear. “My massive cock?”

My breaths came in short bursts, my heart racing. All I could think of now was Cade’s massive cock. And all I wanted to do was see it. Touch it.

I swallowed hard, trying to catch my breath as aching heat pulsed between my legs. When he pulled back, I stared at him. All I could manage was a nod.

What was I nodding to? That yes, I did want to touch it? My thoughts fuzzed.

“That’s right, Hannah. We both know you want to, now. I hope it’s the only thing you think about all night.”

I forgot everything I’d been worried about. Oh, I was still stuck in my head all right. But my thoughts had definitely guttered. All I could think about now was petticoat lifting and other…huge…things. When the waiter went by again, I grabbed another Champagne flute.

Cade barked out a laugh, grabbing another too. He held it up near mine for a private toast. “To adventures together no matter where we go. Most especially in the bathroom.”

I laughed, shaking my head as we clinked glasses to the most ridiculous toast ever. And yet I couldn’t wait for the adventures to begin.

Most especially in the bathroom.

Thank you for reading and sharing this sexy, humorous excerpt. We hope you read and enjoy the rest of this portion of Cade and Hannah’s story in One Funeral.

Digital copies have promotional pricing of $0.99 and are signed during release week.

The Lovers Secret

The Lover’s Secret (No Exceptions #1)

When a sexy encounter comes like a dream and leaves like a nightmare…

Brooke Stewart thinks she’s finally safe. After witnessing the crime of a killer, she can move on from her past. But after one night at the Trio Hotel and meeting the sexy stranger with the green eyes that can steal one’s soul, her life is changed forever. Passions run deep. The game is supposed to be for one night with no strings attached.

What she doesn’t know is that the sexy stranger has an agenda of his own. Brooke Stewart has something he desperately wants, something he can't admit to the woman he tries to get to surrender. A secret so deep it would upend her life if she found out too soon. He’s almost reached his goal, and then she gets a letter she was not meant to read. Suddenly, secrets get a completely new meaning.

Is the past really ever the past?

3 out of 5 stars

I thought this was a good read and I was intrigued. I was pulled in by the characters “first meeting” but once I figured out what was going on I felt like I was missing something. I was interested in Brooke and Jett's relationship and wanted to know more but I don't feel like I learned a lot. There were all these little things that were taking place and I was really curious about them and had a lot of questions. Brooke has some serious trust issues and seems to be keeping a lot from Jett. She questions herself and her thoughts on Jett a lot. I thought Jett was interesting but I don’t feel like I learned much about him.

I haven’t read the previous series (and was told I didn’t need to for this spin-off) and there was a lot of recapping in this book to catch me up on Brooke and Jett’s relationships but I kept thinking I needed to go back and read the Surrender Trilogy to get a better feel for them.

There wasn't a lot of development and it was a bit slow in the middle but I was still really curious about them and what was going to happen. The end really picked up and had me on the edge of my seat – it’s what pushed me over the edge and made this a 3 star review for me. I finally felt Brooke's anxiety and felt invested. I want to know what Jett is up to. It does end on a cliffhanger. I was invested enough and am curious enough that I will continue on to book two, The Lover's Game.

Review: No Weddings by Kat Bastion with Stone Bastion

No Weddings (No Weddings #1)

by Kat Bastion with Stone Bastion

Award-winning author Kat Bastion teams with her husband, Stone Bastion, in this first book in the No Weddings Series about Cade Michaelson, a successful man with his sights set on a new venture in business, and Hannah Martin, the woman who makes it personal.

I think I have my act together as a successful bar owner, my master’s degree within reach, and a list of no-strings-attached women warming my bed. Turns out, I don’t.

Hannah believes she has safeguarded her wounded heart by shunning men and focusing on her new baking business. The thing is, she hasn’t.

When my three sisters and I form an event-planning business with Hannah as our baker, I have no idea how my life is about to change. As Hannah and I work closely together, the attraction between us becomes irresistible. And complicated. I’ve promised my sisters I wouldn’t mix business with pleasure. But I’ve never been one to follow the rules.

4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It was told from Cade's POV and I always love a guys perspective.

I really liked Cade and Hannah a lot. They had an interesting first meeting and I liked getting to know more about them. They were fun and flirty and I loved their interactions and banter. They have a slow build in their relationship but it was great to see their friendship and attraction grow. I loved the sexual tension and innuendo, that was fun! They both had past issues to overcome and it was sad learning about them and I understood why they were so cautious as they moved forward. It was really nice to see them open up and let their guard down.

I loved Cade with his sisters. When they're all together they were entertaining fun. I found myself looking forward to those scenes. His sisters were sweet and supportive and I like the connection they all shared.

I liked the overall story line and where it was going but I thought it had a slow start and was bit drawn out. The pacing was slightly off for me. There was a little drama towards the end which was nice to have. Good imagery and descriptions throughout. I was kind of bummed that Cade and Hannah hadn’t progressed more in their relationship by the end of the book but that gives me something to look forward to with the next book, One Funeral.

All in all, I thought it was a really excellent start to the series with interesting and likable characters. It was a sweet story about learning to trust again and moving forward.

Excerpt intended for mature audiences 18 and up.

I grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with vodka. Weaving through a group of women who were dancing, I found myself surrounded, trapped by hungry, grinding hips, fingers that snuck up my t-shirt and lips that whispered in my ear. I couldn’t hear her words, but had enough sense to know when I was being invited into a woman’s bed.

I tipped my cup back and opened my throat, letting ounce after ounce of burning vodka slide down. When it was gone, I tossed the cup aside and grabbed the waist of the girl in front of me. I pulled her ass against me and grinded into her. She threw her head back against my chest, lifted her arms over her head and swiveled as she bent her knees, lowering herself below my waist. She turned, hooked her fingers behind my belt and looked up at me with smoldering eyes. She licked her lips. My cock twitched in anticipation. I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her up. "Outside," I said. "Now."

We pushed through the crowd and stepped out onto the sidewalk. Her hand squeezed my ass. I reached over and tweaked her nipple, hard through her tight, stretchy shirt.

We rounded the corner to the side of the motel. A few people stood down at the far end of the building, but it was dark enough she could blow me. She put her hands on my chest and groaned low in her throat. "God, I want this body," she said.

"I want your mouth on me." I squeezed her tits, and her hands ran down over my stomach. She squatted down, unbuttoning my jeans. The zipper followed, and her hand pulled me out. I leaned back against the brick wall as her lips closed around my head. Her mouth was hot, and she knew how to stroke a cock. After the day I had, coming in this chick’s mouth was about all I had the strength left in me to do.

I watched her as she sucked me in. Her hand disappeared up her skirt, getting herself off at the same time. That should’ve done it for me, but I was distracted. I wasn’t even enjoying it. I don’t know what the f*ck my problem was.

"That’s enough," I said, hauling her to her feet.

"What’s wrong?" She stumbled in her heels, and I held her up.

"Nothing. It was perfect. I’m just not into it tonight."

She looked disappointed. And pissed. "Yeah. Well. Whatever. No big deal. Your dick’s not that big anyway." It was a lie. We both knew it.

I tucked it back in my pants and watched her retreat around the corner of the building. I waited a few minutes until my cock settled down, then went back around to the sidewalk. I should’ve stayed in my room. I was in no mood for a party and all the fake bullshit that went along with it.

When I got to the door to the party, this one chick wouldn’t move to let me by. "Hey," I said. "Excuse me. I need by you."

She turned and locked her bloodshot blue eyes on me.

Time froze as we stared at each other.

Her blond hair was dull, her complexion sallow, her body too thin. Drugs. I’d know their effects anywhere.

"Danny," I said, catching her by the elbows. "Do you know who I am?"

Her eyes trailed over my face. Jesus, she was rocked out of her mind. Her pupils were dilated and sweat dripped down her neck between her small breasts into her low-cut shirt.

"Danielle," I said, leaning closer. "It’s me—Tyler."

"Tyler," she said, and threw her arms around my neck.

Guilt crushed against my sternum. I left her, and look what she became. "Let’s get out of here." I turned her around and steered her down the sidewalk.
