The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret, family-run business.
Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.
Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering. Handling jobs the U.S. government can’t...

The enigmatic Hancock has been both opponent and ally to the KGI teams for as long as they've known him. Always working a deep game, Hancock's true allegiance has never been apparent, but one thing is for certain—he never lets anything get in the way of duty.

But now, his absolute belief in the primacy of his ultimate goal is challenged by a captive he's been ordered to guard, no matter how much she suffers in her prison. She's the only woman who's ever managed to penetrate the rigid walls surrounding his icy heart, but will he allow his perplexing feelings for the beautiful victim to destroy a mission he's spent years working to complete or will he be forced to sacrifice her for “the greater good.”

3.5 out of 5 stars

I thought this was a really good and enjoyed the overall story. Hancock and Honor were interesting characters and loved the fact there were multiple POV's.

I loved Honor. She was strong, determined, and fierce. I really liked Hancock too, his moments were subtle but you really got a sense of who he was. I really liked the conflict that was created between the two and all they had to go through. I thought they had good chemistry and liked how she could be challenging. It created a lot of drama and emotion. I thought Hancock's team was great and enjoyed how they interacted with Honor and how they regarded her.

While I did enjoy the overall story line there were certain parts that I felt were drawn out and overly descriptive making it hard to keep my attention, lots of narrative that just made a couple of things go on and on. That being said, I loved the interactions and dialogue that did take place and all the details learned from those conversations. They could be intense! There were a few lighter moments, which I loved and they came at just the right time. This is my first book in the KGI series so I did enjoy learning some of the history and meeting characters from previous books. The last 25% was spectacular. Lots of drama, action, nice and intense and really emotional. It really sold it for me!

It was a really good read. Intriguing characters. Loved the concept of the plot. It was just those drawn out narratives that early held me back from loving it. I would definitely give this author another try though because I was invested the whole time, wanted answers and kept right in reading.
