Just for the Plot was the perfect read for me! There was never a time I wanted to put it down. I ate up every detail as I learned about Bennett's crush and how Bower was fighting her feelings. This was incredibly entertaining with the perfect amount of spice and is not to be missed!
Just for the Plot (Bay Area Players #2) by Meghan Quinn
From New York Times bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a spicy sports romance filled with late-night book club confessions, forbidden attraction, and one slow-burn love story that refuses to stay platonic.
They're just friends.
At least, that's what she thinks. Him? He has other plans.
Bennett Brinkman is San Francisco baseball's golden boy―focused, disciplined, and very bad at ignoring the one woman he shouldn't want. Falling for his sister's best friend was inevitable, even though she's always seen him as safe, familiar, and firmly off-limits.
Bower knows exactly why wanting Bennett is a terrible idea. She's fiercely loyal to her best friend and well aware that crossing this particular line could blow everything up. But when she moves into Bennett's apartment building, that "just friends" boundary begins to blur in the most tempting ways.
The banter comes fast.
The sparks come faster.
And pretending it's "no big deal" is getting ridiculous.
As feelings get messier and attraction turns undeniable, Bennett and Bower must decide if risking their family ties is worth chasing the love that's been in front of them all along.
I absolutely loved every single second of Just for the Plot! I laughed, I got choked up, I felt all the angst and swoons, fanned myself, and cheered Bower and Bennett on. I loved everything about these two and how they came together. From the flirting to the tension to the passion, I was all in. I love it when I read a story, and it feels like I become a part of the world, completely lost to it. The second book in the Bay Area Players series did just that. Absolutely outstanding!
I loved learning all about Bennett and his long-standing crush on Bower. I loved how the more time they spent together, Bower was seeing him in a new light and fighting her feelings because of their age gap and because he’s her best friend’s brother. The more I got to know Bower, the more I loved her. Bennett was such a sweetheart, I loved his drive and determination, and his patience to wait for Bower. I loved the ease between them, they had the best banter and flirt happening. The building heat was spot on and perfectly timed, and holy wow was it H O T hot! When it finally struck, total belly flip.
I ate up every scene with Graydon and OC and meeting some new people as well. The Gladdy Daddies were the best! The different chats and conversations with the guys had me cracking up. When they tried to give advice, it was priceless! There were stressors mixed in thanks to Bennett's sister Gabby, but I liked the bits of drama it created, keeping me on the edge of my seat. There were so many characters mixed in that helped to create a well-rounded story. I loved Bowers' boss and seeing Gretchen the PR lady again.
There is not one thing about this that I did not love. The development was exceptional with likeable characters and great details. I went back and forth between reading and listening to the audiobook, and they were both awesome. I loved how the full cast narration was set up, really helping to bring the story to life even more. It made it exciting to listen to, and I was completely engaged. I am in my feelings about this one because not only was it incredibly entertaining, making me laugh, but there was also a wonderful mix of emotion involved. Meghan Quinn knocked it out of the park with this one! All the stars!
