Book Review: Professor Feelgood by Leisa Rayven

I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this book. I had extremely high expectations going in considering how much I loved the first book in the series, Mister Romance, and Professor Feelgood surpassed every single one of my expectations and then gave me so much more. It’s just one of those stories you have to read an experience for yourself. Simply amazing.

What's a girl to do when a man who's countless shades of wrong feels oh-so-right?

Ambitious book editor Asha Tate is a hopeless romantic. Despite her mediocre track record with men, she believes in swooning, sighing, and the everlasting love of true soul mates. Sure, sex is okay, but she’s not someone who’s ever been driven by her animal urges.

Until now.

When Asha stumbles upon the scorching hot Instagram feed of someone calling himself Professor Feelgood, she falls in lust for the first time. Not only is she left panting over photos of the professor’s insane body, but his angst-filled poetry about losing his one true love speaks straight to her soul.

Desperately in need of a bestseller for her struggling publishing company, Asha knows the professor’s potential to sell to his millions of loyal followers could be the lifeline her bosses need. However, the ink is barely dry on a book deal before she realizes she’s made a terrible mistake. Sure, the professor is incredibly talented and sexier than any man has a right to be, but the man behind the persona isn’t at all who she pictured. In real life, he’s intense, arrogant and infuriating, and his uncanny ability to rub her the wrong way turns her dream project into a total nightmare.

Knowing that the professor is everything she doesn’t want in a man should help Asha ignore her occasional urges to mount him, but she quickly learns that explosive, unwanted chemistry can make even smart people do stupid things.

5 out of 5 stars

This was so amazing. AMAZING. 6 stars! Heartfelt, raw and real. A beautifully written and well executed story. It feels like I went on an incredible journey and felt every single bit of emotion the characters went through. Absolutely brilliant.

Asha and Professor Feelgood were truly incredible. I loved learning about them, the connections, history, pain, and longing. They’re flawed and a little broken and there is so much tension and angst, it could be intense. It was extremely well executed. I loved the build of getting to know them, understanding their past and who they are. There was just this pain emanating from them that I could feel and I knew underneath it all there was going to be something powerful and oh man it was worth the wait. This book resonated with me deeply, I felt it in my soul. The more I learned about them, the more hints I got, the more questions I had, the more I loved them.

The writing was brilliant, the story is told from first person POV and it was done exceptionally well. I was truly hooked, turning the page because I was consumed with wanting to know what was going to happen next and how it was all going to play out. I loved seeing the bits of foreshadowing of certain things while others caught me completely by surprise. I was guessing my way through this book, nothing was as it seemed and was not predictable at all. I don't know the last time a book kept me guessing until the end. This had one of the most amazing builds ever. I loved all the details, how the history developed when things were learned, and how it was all laid out. It was a wonderful slow burn romance. The poetry was captivating. There were a few lighter moments with some other really great characters mixed in rounding it all out.

It's crazy how much a book can affect me, how absorbed I get, lost in the story and characters. I don’t think there’s one thing Leisa Rayven has written that I haven’t loved, that hasn’t affected me in a profound way. I love being able to put my heart in the author’s hands and just trust where it’s all going to go. This was just so much more than I thought it was going to be. It was just an absolutely beautiful story that I can’t begin to say enough good things about.
