Viper (Sons of Sangue #1) by Patricia A. Rasey

synopsis

Kane 'Viper' Tepes is one of the oldest living descendants of Vlad III. Vampirism is in his blood. So is being the President of the Sons of Sangue. Those who break motorcycle club rules that protect their coven are dealt swift punishment. No exceptions. Until one pretty little detective has him compromising his beliefs, and endangering his position as head of the MC.

Vampirism had Cara Brahnam turning tail and leaving behind her life in Pleasant. Now, ten years later, she's back as lead detective and wants to see the person responsible for draining the women of Lane County brought to justice, no matter what deal the gang of miscreants has struck with the sheriff. Or the fact that her number one suspect is the sole reason she fled in the first place.

Now someone has targeted Cara as the next victim and Kane must join in the hunt to find the ancient vampire that wants her dead.

(Recommended for 18+ due to mature themes and sexual content.)

my-review

4 out of 5 stars

This story reminded me why vampires are my first love! I was pulled in right from the prologue – it totally grabbed my attention. Excellent story!

The mystery and intrigue captured me and I couldn’t put it down. It was a great who done it! I really like that I didn't get a vampire overview, that the story just started and the fact that Kane was a vampire was a given and certain things were explained along the way.

I loved Kane/Viper and Cara, how their characters evolved, grow and come together. Their story was very engaging. Fantastic chemistry and heat. The sex scenes where super hot! Besides the hotness, they have a great connection and a good playfulness and banter. I really enjoyed how we learned about both of their pasts throughout the story as well, making me like them both even more.

I enjoyed the other vampire bikers too, they each seemed to have their own engaging personalities. Since this book is listed as Sons of Sangue #1 I hope that means it’s in a series because I would love to read Kaleb and Suzi’s story. It was a great set up for a second book and I need more.

This book had a suspenseful and intense feel with a GREAT ending - I loved how everything played out. The author has a great style of writing, offering different POV’s. Loved the drama, good flow and tempo. I was on the edge of my seat! Gotta love an intense and sexy vampire on a motorcycle!
