In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war raging between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Possessed by a deadly beast, Rhage is the most dangerous of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Owned by this dark side, Rhage fears the time when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.

Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant on Rhage's protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. She lost her faith in miracles years ago. But when Rhage's intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves...

5 out of 5 stars

So awesome! All loved all the different layers and stories that were going on, how they're all tied together is masterful. I am officially in love with this series!

So much went on but it flowed perfectly and had an excellent, fast pace. I was on the edge of my seat the majority of the time. Loved the action, drama, hot sexy times, and the emotional parts had me teary eyed. There were even some highly entertaining moments and it was nice to have some humor mixed in with everything.

Rhage’s story was awesome. He is a hot, sexy warrior but he was so trapped and I really felt bad for him at times. I loved watching him open up and truly love another. He seriously made my heart melt, loved him. Mary's character was awesome too. Her strength was incredible and I loved her devotion. She seemed to take everything in stride and really stand up for herself when she needed too. Such an awesome love story the way they came together.

I love that there are smaller stories that are building so it's moving the overall series forward. I'm excited about where it's all going to go. New characters where introduced that where intriguing and it just adds to the mystery of what’s next.

I love that Zsadist story started being developed. We learn a lot about him, not just a snippet either, but a ton of detail and I'm thrilled to read his story next. We learned his backstory and oh goodness, I don’t think I could breath while reading, it was horrendous. Him meeting Bella was intense and I cannot wait for that story. The author has totally grabbed my attention and pulled me in making me want more!

The ending was incredible. It was intense and emotional and I got slightly weepy. I feel I had closure with Rhage and Mary's story but overall I have tons of questions as to what will happen next with the series. This story is just fantastic, excellent character development, loved the writing and the switching of the multiple POVs. We learned so much more bout the brothers, and I absorbed all the new details, they're all fascinating.

Loved it! 5 hot vampire stars! I love it when a book leaves a rush of adrenaline in me because it just was that awesome and had me hooked the whole time.
