A Not So Meet Cute was a super entertaining read and I can't wait to dive into the rest of the series. After meeting JP in the Bridesmaid for Hire series I knew I had to backtrack and read the Cane Brother books. I am so glad I started, this was so flipping fun!
A Not So Meet Cute (Cane Brothers #1) by Meghan Quinn
How did you two meet?
The quintessential question asked to every couple. And the answer is usually some bubbly, lovey dovey tale of being struck in the bum by Cupid’s arrow.
My meet cute (well not so meet cute) is slightly different. I was trolling a wealthy neighborhood in Beverly Hills, searching for someone to take me as their bride, you know, to make my arch nemesis jealous who consequently just fired me.
He was stomping around the block like some sort of gorgeous ogre, mumbling about a business deal gone wrong and attempting to finagle his way out of it.
And that's when we bumped into each other.
There were no sparks.
Not even a hint of blossoming love.
But next thing I knew, I was scarfing down free chips and guac, listening to this man lay out all of his problems which led to his big ask . . . he wanted me to be his Vivian Ward, you know, from Pretty Woman--minus the frisky behavior.
We're talking about living in a mansion, intimate double dates, and pretending we were head over heels in love . . . and engaged. Can you imagine?
The absolute audacity.
But people do crazy things when they’re desperate. And I reeked of desperation. So, I struck up a deal.
My one big mistake, though . . . big . . . HUGE? I accidentally fell for the incomparable Huxley Cane.
4 out of 5 stars
I had a blast reading A Not So Meet Cute! It
was entertaining with the perfect amount of banter. I loved the snark and the hilarious scenes, as well as watching these two let their guards down and fall in love.
It was just outright fun!
I instantly loved Lottie and got her. I liked her internal
dialogue and witty comments, she was a sassy spitfire. I liked Huxley a lot too
and the predicament he got himself in. He seemed so uptight and bossy so I
loved how he grew throughout the story. I loved them meeting and getting to
know one another and seeing how truly caring and good they are, and how much
they want to help others. I loved the fake fiancé aspect and all the amusing
scenes that were created because of it. They had awesome banter right from the
start and I ate it up, I loved their verbal sparring. I adored the moments
when they softened and started to open up. The building sexual tension between
them was great, these two were hot together.
There are ups and downs and a bit of mild drama but honestly, this was pure entertaining goodness that had me laughing, smiling, and rooting
for them. There were so many hilarious, sometimes crazy scenarios happening and
I couldn't get enough. I loved meeting Huxley's brothers and am excited for their
stories and I also liked Lottie's sister. I love what's been set up for her sister
Kelsey and his brother JP. I loved the things happening with Lottie's ex-boss
and how Lottie got her revenge, the epilogue was like icing on the cake.
This was a super fun read with a great build, I loved the banter,
playful animosity, and flirting. This was romcom goodness with hot sexy times
that had me laughing out loud and smiling my way through.
