4 out of 5 stars

This was intense, crazy, super sexy and full of drama. Miller and Livy are fascinating yet frustrating characters I can't seem to get enough of them. I enjoyed this story immensely!

There was a slow build the first half where small secrets are discovered and revealed. I thought some of it was a bit drawn out but I enjoyed all the new details learned. Miller and Livy are great characters but they both are set in their ways and I found myself stressed out and anxiety ridden because of some of their actions. They have this crazy pull to one another that just made me shake my head sometimes but at the same time I couldn’t put it down because I was so drawn to them.

There was a lot of animosity between Miller, Gregory, and William that really added to the drama and intensity. I really liked getting to know more about William, his history and how it related to Livy. I feel like I saw Miller in a whole other light and it made for some heart stopping moments. He is seriously a complicated, messed up man in an extreme situation but I just want to fix him! I like Livy a lot as well, it was nice to see more sass from her but I really liked those moments when she showed strength for Miller. Thank goodness there was more Nan in this to bring some lighter moment, I really appreciated those. She can be hilarious.

The second half was drama filled but with lots of revelations, some heartbreaking. Around 80% I was in serious what-the-heck-just-happened mode, I was rather shocked. The intensity level went up from there and that underlying element of danger I felt most of the second half came into play. I like the whole mysterious elements that woven in. And then right when you think it's over - bam - one more major thing happens and then, the end. Cliffhanger.

My only real issue with the story was that there were several times that I felt like a scene jumped from one to another without a smooth transition. I'd get kind of confused and reread to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I thought this was a great read that really had me on the edge of my seat. I'm loving the overall story, and thought it was an excellent addition to the trilogy and I cannot wait to get my hands on the third book to learn the conclusion.
