Anya Gage has learned that to get anything good in life, you have to work for it. She has no expectations, no dreams.

Then she finds herself at a party where she doesn’t want to be and she meets Knight.

Knight Sebring knows who he is, what he wants and what he likes. And he gets it. But he never expected something as sweet as Anya Gage to wander into his bedroom during a party he did not expect to be having to borrow his phone.

Knight tries to leave Anya to the life she deserves of white picket fences and a man who watches football on Sundays – good, normal and clean. But when Anya comes to his nightclub and finds herself in a situation, he knows someone has to look after her, he can’t fight it anymore and he decides that man will be him.

Knight teaches Anya that, just as with the bad, in life you should also expect the good. And he teaches her this by giving it to her.

But Knight has a dark past and just as he desires Anya for exactly who she is, he fears when she finds out exactly the man he has become and always intends to be, she’ll leave him for good, normal and clean.

4 out of 5 stars

Oh wow! I was prepared for an intense alpha-male but Knight Sebring is IN-TENSE! Great read!

As soon as Knight and Anya met I had a million questions and was fascinated by Knight. Intense doesn't cover it. Dominating. Controlling. Aggressive. Demanding, intriguing, sexy, and secretive. He had all those bases covered. Anya is sweet and has fought hard for everything she has and tries to stand up to him but since Knight is who he is, that's rather hard to do. It creates bits of drama, nothing over the top, some angst, and a lot of hotness! I really liked their story and learning their histories. Knight can be so gruff and overbearing but mixed in with all that attitude and dominating ways are these sweet moments that make you melt. I loved those moments so you could really see that underneath, he was a good guy (in his own way).

Great writing with an interesting cast of characters. I did think there were a few parts in the front half that were a bit drawn out. Excellent pace in the second half.

There was excellent hotness. Knights not shy with the dirty talk and wordage. There is a nice nontraditional D/s element happening, it was intense and erotic. I can't not mention the name exchange that happens between these two, I was warned about it so I was prepared, it was a bit... odd... but hey. It worked for them. I kind of just had to accept it and go with it.

Really great read. I didn't know what to expect besides an intense alpha male (which I totally got) but it also had a great emotional element with their soft words and whispers. Kristen Ashley always does a really great job of pulling me in. Be prepared for intense and hot!
