Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out — move up at the nightclub she works at and stay away from any guy who might trigger her obsessive love disorder. A perfect plan.

But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous — the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of it.

Avoiding him isn’t an option after he offers a business proposition she can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.

4 out of 5 stars

This was really, REALLY good. I honestly had no idea what to expect beyond the synopsis and it being recommended to me a ton of times. It was an awesome read!

Right from the start I had a bazillion questions. Most got answered but I still have more (it's a trilogy so I assume they'll get touched upon at some point). Alayna and Hudson are fascinating characters. There is so much going on with them, it had me turning the page, wanting to know everything.

I was enthralled by Hudson's interest in her and loved finding out some of the details that drove him. Most of the time I was thinking: This man makes me crazy and fascinates me at the same time. I really liked Alayna, she was always fighting such an internal battle. I thought they had a great attraction and chemistry. It was great watching their relationship evolve, lots of tension and twists and turns. It frustrated me and I loved it all at the same time. It created awesome drama that was rather consuming. Loved the emotional and intimate moments they shared as well.

Interesting characters were introduced. His mother is a serious a piece of work. Talk about someone who makes me want to throw my Kindle and yell. A woman from Hudson's past stressed me out as well each time a new detail was learned. The man is so closed off, he had my head swimming with what if’s. I was so thankful for the insight I got.

I thought the writing was really good, I was definitely pulled in. The first 20% had a decent pace laying everything out, I was liking it a lot. The build continued and I was enjoying it but at about the 50% mark, I couldn't read fast enough as all the new details unfolded. I thought the overall story was great and I'm definitely going to need to read the next two because Alayna and Hudson are under my skin.
