Hey. Hi. Guess what? New feature! Let’s Talk About That Story in… whatever month we are in! A place to talk books and chat and share. Basically a slice of my book reading life. All my posts are pretty structured but I wanted to do something a little more laid back and free flowing. This is it. You are here. So, let’s chat!
How is January treating you? 12 days in and mine is going pretty well. My house is back to normal from the holiday hub-bub and things are back on track. I do love the holidays but I also like when they’re over, lol! I’ve got a few books under my belt already, I started off the year with The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. It was a great way to kick of 2017. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it.
So first up, thanks so much for being here. I appreciate each and every visitor who stops by my little slice of the internet. I love sharing and talking books and I’m glad to have a place to do it. If you don’t already, feel free to subscribe to my blog by email, and follow both my Facebook and Twitter page. I’m also on Pinterest sharing general stuff, book stuff, motivational and snarky stuff, all kinds of awesomeness. And of course you can always connect with me on Goodreads, I like book friends.
This month has a crazy amount of New Releases! Over the last couple of months when announcements were made and I started adding them to an on going list I keep, the sheer volume of them had me super excited… and slightly overwhelmed. I’m pretty much all the books (give them to me now!!!) but it’s hard to read everything I want to read because there are so many. These bad boys are releasing in January (or have already released)…
Rock Chick Reawakening (Rock Chick #.05) by Kristen Ashley – I am so excited to read this. I adore this series (click here to find reviews for books #1-7). I still need to read Rock Chick Revolution (book #8) but hopefully soon. This is a novella and can be read as a standalone but I prefer to read a series in order and since this book was written last, I’m planning on reading it last.
Full Package by Lauren Blakely – I loved this so much! Want to read an excerpt? Find one HERE. [Full Review]
Egomaniac by Vi Keeland (Releasing 1/16) – This one looks SO GOOD!!! I shared an excerpt the other day for the book and thought it was great. I swear the excerpt suck me in!!!
Finding Kyle by Sawyer Bennett (Releasing 1/16)
Entice Me by J. Kenner (Releasing 1/17) – Any Nikki and Damien fans out there? I am a huge fan of the Stark Trilogy and am thrilled the author wrote another installment.
The Room Mate by Kendell Ryan (Releasing 1/24)
Under Pressure by Lori Foster (Releasing 1/24)
Accidentally On Purpose (Heartbreaker Bay #3) by Jill Shalvis (Releasing 1/24) – This book totally took me to my happy place!
The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken – This one is already out but it comes out in mass market paperback on 1/31.
On Broken Wings (Wild Aces #3) by Chanel Cleeton – I picked up the first book, Fly With Me, when it was on sale and plan on reading this series in order (eventually!). I have heard fabulous things about it.
Hard Hitter (Brooklyn Bruisers #2) by Sarina Bowen – Read it. Loved it. I want to marry Patrick O’Doul and have all his little hockey playing babies. [Full Review]
Any Time, Any Place (Billionaire Builders #2) by Jennifer Probst (Releasing 1/31)
Heartbreaker by Stacy Kennedy (Releasing 1/31) – I’m reading this one now (well, starting today)! I loved Stacey Kennedy’s Club Sin series so I am looking forward to her new Filthy Dirty Love series.
I know there were many more than this but these were the ones I happened upon and am excited about. Feel free to share which ones caught your eye.
Remember my On My Radar feature? I’m revamping it a bit and including it as part of my new Let’s Talk About That Story feature. That way I can do as many or as few as I want. Keep in mind some of these might be out already and they’re new to me and some are coming soon. Between December and January, I added way more books to my Goodreads TBR than I can count. I actually try to be choosey (I swear!) so I won’t get overwhelmed but it’s hard to do that when there are so many great authors, titles, and blurbs that catch my attention. Not to mention other bloggers and friends who say, “you have to read this!” There are currently 639 books marked as “to-read” on my Goodreads list. *blinks* That’s a lot of books! Anyway, here are a few that are on my radar…
Let’s Talk About Then, Now, Next shall we? (See what I did there with the “let’s talk about?”) It’s basically what I just finished reading, what I’m currently reading, and what I’m planning on reading next. Pretty self explanatory right? Accidentally on Purpose by Jill Shalvis was the last book I read. I’m starting Heartbreaker by Stacey Kennedy today and up next on my schedule is Any Time, Any Place by Jennifer Probst.
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Finding Kyle by Sawyer Bennett (Releases 1/16/2017)
Accidentally on Purpose by Jill Shalvis (Releases 1/24/2017)
So (should one start a sentence with so? Who knows. I am!)… So, once upon a time I said something silly like “I’ll never listen to an audio book, they aren’t for me.” [Insert hysterical laughter here] I’m a big baby about trying new things so I can only assume I was being ridiculous chicken when I said that because I love audio books now! I really heavily on my library for them and look for every Audible deal I can find. Fun fact: I’ve not ever listened to an audio book that I haven’t already read and thoroughly enjoyed. I love listening and getting a whole other perspective through the narrator and losing myself in the story all over again. Normally I listen while cooking or cleaning (because I’m a domestic goddess! [again with the hysterical laughter]) and it helps the time fly by. So, this is the place where I’m sharing the Audio Book Love with what is currently playing or have listened to within the month.
I’m currently listening to Beard Science by Penny Reid. It was one of my Top Reads of 2016 so I thought I’d kick the new year off right with Cletus and Jen. If you haven’t read this book (or listened) you have to! It was 6 stars all the way.
One of these days I’m going to try and listen to a book I haven’t already read. Crazy right? I don’t think I’m there yet but soon.
I’m totally eyeballing Paper Princess and Broken Prince by Erin Watt on audio. Those stories were crazy addicting (again, a Top Read!!!) but I’m thinking I’ll hold out for Twisted Palace to come out on audio before I dive in.
Randomness isn’t necessarily going to be book related, hence the randomness title.
Let’s talk about the amazeballs Instant Pot I picked up on Black Friday. I am so in love this thing it’s almost ridiculous! Back in April I started focusing on getting healthy, clean eating, portion control, and exercise (I’ve lost 25 pounds! Go me! It took forever but whatever, I’m pretty damn proud of myself!). I’d been eyeballing the IP as a healthier cooking method option. Finally it went on sale and I snatched it up. One of the best things I’ve ever done. I can cook a whole chicken without turning on the oven! Yes, you can do it in the crock pot but I think this tastes so much better with this method. Since I’ve become obsessed, I even created an Instant Pot Recipes Pinterest Board. And that’s my IP infomercial for the day, lol!
Expect a new Let’s Talk About That Story from me every month… towards the beginning of the month sometime. I know, random and non committal on the date but that’s what I’m going with. I’m trying to go with the flow… I’m a totally structured, live and die by a list, if it’s not written down it isn’t going to happen type of a person so this is me trying to be more fly by the seat of my pants. If it doesn’t work, I’m totally scheduling the posts in my date book. I also plan on keeping my topics fluid, whatever suits my mood and is on my mind though I’m sure some things will be repeated. My goal is to just be and have fun sharing.
Alright, that’s it for my new Let’s Talk About That Story post for the day. Thanks for hanging out and hanging in. What do you think?
One more thing, a big THANK YOU to one of my favorite people in the world and one of my best friends Bex from Night Owl Reader. I had a different title going on for this new feature, it was good but not great and after running it by Bex, she came up with Let’s Talk About That Story. Genius I tell you. Pure genius!!! Because my blog name is About That Story and we’re talking about books! She is the best and her reviews are MY go to. Be sure to check out her blog, I love it! Sending warm, squishy hugs your way Bex!
So, what are you reading and listening too? Any covers your drooling over or authors I need to know about? Any questions for me? Tell me about your January!
