Let's Talk About That Story: February 2017

Welcome to the February addition of Let’s Talk About That Story. Thanks so much for being here. If you missed the introductory post of this feature, you can find it here → Let’s Talk About That Story: January 2017.

Is it just me or did January fly by? February 1st hit and I couldn't believe it. I had a busy month life and book-wise. The year started out with a bang then it went to that special place of aaaah! I have so much to do!!! I’ve been pretty much trying to keep up… Dory’s line of “just keep swimming” comes to mind.

How is your February going? Hanging in there? Or are you feeling the crazy like me? Speaking of crazy, let’s talk about book craziness! Because I am definitely feeling a little book crazy this month. Between adding things to my TBR, 1-clicking sales, and ARCs coming in, plus the gazillion I have on my Kindle and physical shelves, I seem to be living in between “I’m in book heaven” and “I’m completely overwhelmed” and don’t know what to do with myself. I think this is a pretty realistic and common thing, especially among book bloggers. Sometimes I have to remind myself to breathe, remember this is for FUN, and take a step back… and sometimes take a day off and not read. That day off always gives me perspective and helps me regroup a little.

Do you ever experience book overwhelmed? For me it’s mostly having so many books at once that I want to read next… all at the same time! I will literally have 10 tabs open on my computer with the synopsis’s up for me to read, trying to decide which book I want to immerse myself in. It’s a battle because I have things things scheduled but I’m not always in the mood for what’s up next so I’ll change it around if I need too. I’m a big believer in being in the right mood for a book. Anyway, this is me at the moment, dealing with book overwhelm. Book overwhelm is totally a thing. Please tell me I’m not alone.

Not helping that overwhelm is the fact is that so many awesome books have been released and added to my TBR, lol! The following New Releases are either available now or will be out by the end of the month. So, let’s talk about what’s new…

Royally MatchedPageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00023]The Cad and the Co-Ed

Dominate Me by Stacey Lynn – Read it. Loved it. It was my first time reading this author and afterwards I pretty much wanted to add every single thing she’s written to my TBR. [Full Review]

Ruthless by Gina L. Maxwell – This looks super hot! I read the first book and loved it so of course I’m all about this one too.

Hard Rhythm by Cecilia Tan

Almost a Bride by Jo Watson – This looks so funny! I shared an excerpt on my blog earlier and after reading it, I was totally sold.

Big Shot by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

Reckless Hearts by Heather Van Fleet – Hot excerpt alert! Read it HERE.

Nine Kinds of Naughty by Jeannette Grey – We all need a little naughty in our life right? Read a fun excerpt HERE.

Park Avenue Prince by Louise Bay – I had so much fun reading this. Louise Bay is a new-to-me author and I’m looking forward to more from her.

The King of Bourbon Street by Thea De Sale – Hot, fun, dirty read! Like, dirty freaky naughty! te he!

Roman by Sawyer Bennett – I love Sawyer Bennett and am kicking myself for not having read her Cold Fury series yet. I’m pretty much a read-in-order kind of a girl but with Roman, I might just dive in. It’s book #7 so I’d have a lot of catching up to do otherwise.

Royally Matched by Emma Chase – You are going to love Prince Henry. This book CONSUMED me. I cannot wait to share my review. This story was total perfection!

Pucked Off by Helena Hunting

The Hot One by Lauren Blakely – Lauren Blakely can do no wrong. Of course I’ve got this bad boy on my radar!

The Bastard Billionaire by Jessica Lemmon – I love this series and the Crane family.

Wait for It by Molly O’Keefe

The Cad and the Co-Ed by LH Cosway and Penny Reid – The cover for this book has actually been my phone wallpaper since it was released. I loved the first two so I’ve been eagerly anticipating this one for a while. It’s going to be my Valentine’s Day present to myself. Red heart

Let’s talk about what’s new on my TBR… because I added a ton of books that caught my eye. Besides adding Contemporary Romance (of course!), I added a few Paranormal Romances and Erotica stories. PNR is actually my first love but I don’t read it as often as I’d like. I need to change that. I couldn’t believe I didn’t already have Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley on my list. I am a HUGE KA fan so combining her work with PNR is right up my alley. Check out what’s On My Radar

Undiscovered (Amoveo Rising #1) Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland, #1) Unleashed (The Amoveo Legend, #1)

Fighting Attraction (Redemption, #4) Master Professor Black Tie Optional (Wild Wedding, #1) Talk Cowboy to Me (Lucky Cowboys, #1) Lucas (Cold Fury Hockey, #8)

Royal Affair (Royal Scandal, #1) All You Need (Need You, #3) Bombshell (Hollywood A-List, #1) Royally Bad In Skates Trouble (Chicago Rebels, #0.5) Anything You Can Do

Royally Matched The Bastard Billionaire The Cad and the Co-Ed

Then, Now, and Next is pretty self explanatory. I’m just sharing past, current, and future reads. I just finished The Bastard Billionaire by Jessica Lemmon and fell in love with Eli Crane. Before that it was Royally Matched by Emma Chase, I was so book hungover after reading this, I took a day off and binged watched chick-flicks on Netflix because I couldn't concentrate on anything. It was so good! Next up will probably be The Cad and the Co-Ed by LH Cosway and Penny Reid but I’ll have to wait until it’s release on the February 14th. The wait might kill me, lol!

I started off the year with Beard Science by Penny Reid… because Cletus and Jen are fan-freaking-tastic. Next was Beautiful by Christina Lauren. I thought I cried a lot while reading the epilogues but listening took me too a whole other level. I was thankful no one was home. I was a blubbering mess! After that, Reaper’s Stand by Joanna Wylde. This is my favorite book in the Reapers series.

My library uses Overdrive.com. I LOVE Overdrive so much and that site helps keep my Audio Book Love alive! Check to see if your library uses it and it will give you access to ebooks and audiobooks. For mine all I needed was to log in with my library card, it was super easy. Audio books aren’t cheap so using Overdrive is my go-to for audio books.

I’ve got a few lined up and am waiting for a notification… I check my status in the queue like a crazy person! lol! On my listening agenda is…

Fire Inside: A Chaos Novel | Kristen Ashley The Gamble | Kristen AshleyRelease Me (The Stark Trilogy): The Stark Series #1 | J. Kenner

Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley – I loved Lanie and Hoppers story and can’t wait to relive it and feel everything again. I’m up next in the queue so any time now!

The Gamble by Kristen Ashley – I remember reading this book. Being so immersed in it that I didn’t realize the time… as in, my husband had come home from work and was standing next to me and said, “Hello?” and scared the crap out of me. I didn’t hear him come in, no dinner was ready for anyone, nothing was clean that day… I was just all about this book. Amazing doesn’t cover it.

Release Me by J. Kenner – I’ve read the first two books in this series but for some reason, never got to the third book. I plan on listening to book 1 (Release Me) and book 2 (Claim Me) and then finally read book 3 (Complete Me).

Let’s talk about Goodreads finally adding an option for rereads shall we? I saw this and about flipped. About freaking time!!! Check out their blog post: Rereading Is Here! Let’s Say It Again. Rereading Is Here! I have wanted this for a very long time. I am thrilled that the rereads count towards their yearly Reading Challenge Goal as well. I will finally be able to add audiobooks since I’m rereading/listening.

I changed my exercise program up. I mentioned last month that I started focusing on getting healthy a while back and exercise has been a huge part of that. I love the Beachbody programs. I started with 21 Day Fix and moved on to 21 Day Fix Extreme. I needed to mix things up a bit so I decided to go with Focus T25. I’m pretty sure Shaun T. is trying to kill me. Somehow it’s the fastest and longest 25 minutes all rolled into one. I started with 21 Day Fix on April 4, 2016 and haven’t missed a workout since (knock on wood!).

I do have a great big ol’ ranty pants lecture in my head about using Bcc: when sending emails but I tend to get rather long winded and pissy. Seriously. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves ever. So, use Bcc: if you’re sending an email to a lot of different addresses at once, so you aren’t giving out someone else's email without permission. Bcc: means blind carbon copy in case you don’t know. Oh look. I can be nice about it, my husband would be proud. Winking smile

Thanks again for being here. Y’all are the best! Next month I might change it up a bit. We shall see. It’ll be a surprise for both of us! lol!

Happy hearts and flowers and love and hugs and kisses month!!! xoxo!!!

How many books did you add to your TBR this past month? Anything that stands out that I need to add to mine? What are you looking forward to in February? Let me know!
