Review: Alex (Cold Fury #1) by Sawyer Bennett

I’m slightly embarrassed with how long Alex sat on my Kindle. I am so glad I finally dove in. Heck of a way to kick of a series, I’m excited for more!

Alex 1

Alex (Cold Fury #1) by Sawyer Bennett

synopsis_thumb2

Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn't afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn't so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people--like Alex, who's been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team's effort to clean up his image. What she doesn't expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn't one to cross professional boundaries--and besides, Alex doesn't do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex's bad-boy facade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

4.5 out of 5 stars

I have been dying to start this series and am so glad I finally did. I was immediately hooked. Loved this!

Watching Alex and Sutton come together was fantastic. Alex has some demons and even though I wanted to throttle him early on I loved watching him grow and change throughout the story. He made my belly do somersaults! He was just so sweet and tender and there was a lot of underlying emotion happening. I loved how supportive and positive Sutton was, they were just really good for each other. I thought they were both great characters and I loved all the tension and animosity between them.

The build of their story and them coming together was awesome. I thought there was really great progression. There are ups and downs, a bit of drama, lots of hot sex, and a lot of emotion. It just all played out really well. I was feeling rather crushed toward the end but Sawyer Bennett brought it home with a fantastic ending and awesome epilogue. Loved the writing and descriptions and how the author really evoked a lot of feelings out of me. Alex and Sutton have great voices and I loved that this was dual POV.

I thought this was an excellent introduction to the series and am thrilled there are so many more out for me to read. I loved getting to meet some of the other guys on the Cold Fury team and am excited where it will go. Garrett was super fun with no shame and I will definitely read his story soon.

I'm a big ol' Sawyer Bennett fan and love a good sports romance so this definitely fit the bill. Hot and sexy and oh my is Alex dreamy!

I’m a big fan of reading a series in order (even when they’re standalones) but I’m also not patient waiting for books to come out so I am thrilled that there are so many books in the Cold Fury series for me to look forward too. Is there a series you’re glad you found late in the game? Let Me Know!
