The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Release Date: May 14, 2019
For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime—maybe even love—in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies.
Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion . . . she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.
Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.
Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is . . . Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.
With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.

5 out of 5 stars
The Unhoneymooners was AMAZING! It’s a laugh-out-loud, slow burn romance that had THE BEST banter and one-liners. From start to finish, this was everything I could have wanted. Amazing characters, storyline, and build. So freaking hilarious and full of so much heart. I absolutely loved it!
I had instant love for Olive and enjoyed her voice. I was laughing myself silly as all of Olive and Ethan’s history was learned. I adored their interactions and how they viewed each other and couldn't wait to learn the why behind it all. When they start to let their guard down and see each other in a different light, I had butterflies. I loved the nuance of their growing relationship, the sweet things mixed in with the bickering. There were so many humorous scenes between these two that had me smiling! When certain things come to light, I held my breath and felt all the emotion as their perceptions of each other were revealed. It was intense, honest, and real.
This is told from Olive’s POV and I have to say, I wasn’t missing Ethan's voice at all. I liked seeing things in him that Olive was missing. It was just incredibly well crafted. I kept barking out laughter because of Olive’s internal dialogue. This was hysterically funny and engaging but it was so much more. It's full of heart and angst and tension. I could feel that subtle build from the start so by the time the end came around, my heart was exploding.
Christina Lauren are go-to authors for me. I love how they create such rich characters and incredibly entertaining stories filled with sweetness, emotion, and heat. This story is low in the heat department but I never felt like it was missing. It was all about the building anticipation between Olive and Ethan as their feelings grow so when it happens, all the emotion and passion between them was already shining through.
This story was just perfect for me. Enemies to lovers stories are my jam and this was extremely well executed. I couldn’t read it fast enough and I never wanted it to end. The Unhoneymooners is officially one of my favorite books of 2019!
