Super hot, fascinating read with intriguing characters! I thought the dynamic between Amèlie and Olivier was mesmerizing, that’s one of the things that really hooked me. I was just engrossed by it all and couldn't put it down. I love that KA gave me something new and fresh that I have not experienced before.
My thoughts on the characters: I was neutral about Amèlie for the most part, she was a good character but her voice in this was off to me. Her speech flow seemed so stiff and formal. I really liked Olivier and when it was his POV, it flowed much better for me. He was a total mans man so I loved his alpha challenging ways even as he was in sub mode. That challenge he had brought some humorous moments and I loved it when they were fun and playful. That made it really entertaining to read. I enjoyed Olivier’s struggle, being the strong man he was, and how it played out. There was a nice, subtle build to their relationship, I liked their developing feelings and when they opened up about personal things, that made them more relatable. I didn’t think there was a lot of character development with either of them, I felt like it was an overview of why they were in the life but I didn’t feel there was any real depth behind it. I was missing that grit.
This story is high octane heat. I mean, holy dirty naughty kinky! Sex and different forms of play are a huge part of this world so it is very much integrated into the story, in fact, it’s the majority of it. It's wicked hot and most definitely erotica. It's the man as the sub with a female Domme so there are a gazillion things she can do, and she does. It's very descriptive and very detailed. They are extravagant scenes. You will not be disappointed when it comes to the sexy times.
My thoughts on the writing: The writing was the KA style I know and love and yet somehow different. I'm used to her very detailed descriptions, some of them this time around were just overly long, drawn out, and redundant. Also, the parts that were Amèlie POV just didn’t flow as well and I had a harder time connecting when it was her voice. I very much liked the elaborate cast of characters that were introduced, it makes me excited and curious to see where the series will go.
The Deep End gets 4 stars because I was so pulled in by this unique relationship and the fact that I couldn't put it down because I wanted to see how it played out... and because, well, I thought the sex scenes were freaking stellar. The character development and background, and the things that felt way to drawn out, that wasn’t as great for me. So, it was awesome, I liked it a lot but I did have some issues. If you’re looking for hot and intriguing give it a go, the sex is wild and it might not be for everyone but it fascinated the heck out of me!

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.Nothing's changed.
Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.
