Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.
Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.
This was just an amazing story. I cannot even begin to explain how much I loved it. Book hangover for days! Extremely well written, wonderful flow, and excellent characters. The anticipation and build had me on completely captured.
I absolutely loved the uniqueness of how the story was set up with the dual POV's and how all the different layers were revealed. The back and forth had me holding my breath for the moment everything came together and intersected.
I loved Miles and Tate so much. Their connection and attraction to one another was unstoppable. It was intense and passionate. I thought Tate was strong, caring, and understanding. I could not get enough of Miles, he was complicated and very guarded. I had so many questions and absorbed all the little details. His past was sweet, angst filled, and extremely heartbreaking. I loved discovering those past revelations and how they were set up and written out in the book.
There was a lot going on and there were times I just wanted to shake Miles and tell him to wake up. He made me frustrated and angry but I was so mesmerized by the developing details. Other times I wanted to tell Tate to walk away because I know certain things had to be torture for her but in the same breath I wished for their happily ever after. This story is a journey to healing, closure, hope and moving on. It was beautiful. When the POV's intersect and everything comes together, I thought it was so powerful.
There’s a part towards the end where Miles visits someone from his past and says a certain sentence and it completely broke me. I was trying to hard not to cry up until that point but I just lost it. So much emotion throughout but that build to the end… there are just no words. It was incredible!
Loved it all… solid beginning, middle, and end. Great epilogue too. I liked all the secondary characters as well, especially Cap, loved him. This was a story that really made me feel. The good, the bad, and the ugly. All of it.
I loved Ugly Love.
One of my favorite quotes from the the book:
“Love isn't always pretty. Sometimes you spend all your time hoping it'll eventually be something different. Something better. Then, before you know it, you're back to square one, and you lost your heart somewhere along the way.” ― Colleen Hoover, Ugly Love
