The emotional and unforgettable new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that she and her mother weren't his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him.

Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and explosive affair.

Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for. And when they're on the precipice of danger, he finds he’ll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again…

5 out of 5 stars

I loved this so much! Seriously excellent story from beginning to end!

Alexa and Caine were extremely well written characters. I love when characters have great animosity that creates off the charts chemistry and they definitely had it. I could feel it! I loved Alexa's sass, it was awesome. Caine is a new book boyfriend for sure, intense and hot. He's a complicated, sexy sole. I loved him but there were some times that I hated him (but in a "I'm rooting for him" type of way). I loved the story of how they met, their past connection, and how their relationship evolved. These to together were so freaking hot, holy wow! It was fantastic! Even though this is from Alexa's POV, I could feel the depth of Caine's emotion. It was so great. Every time he opened himself up a bit more I thought my heart might explode. They had a fantastic push and pull with a ton of ups and downs that kept me totally invested.

This had a great pace, was extremely funny in parts, seriously steamy hot, and really emotional as well. It was laid out perfectly. There was a nice amount of angst and drama too. I love that feeling I get when it’s like I can't breath and read fast enough because I have to know what’s going to happen next. That totally happened while reading this.

I love the other characters in this so much. Everyone seriously needs a Mrs. Flanagan in their life. This lady was fantastic. I liked Caine's friend Henry too. I really enjoyed the evolving relationship with Alexa's grandfather and how it all developed.

This is my first time reading anything from Samantha Young and I absolutely loved it. I feel rather blow away actually and cannot wait to read more from her.

Solid story. Excellent characters, perfect pace and build. Did I mention sexy as anything and super HOT?! Loved it! A must read!
