Book Review: Bittersweet (True North #1) by Sarina Bowen

I absolutely loved this story! Incredibly entertaining with great characters. It was my first Sarina Bowen book and I can positively say, it will not be my last!

Bittersweet

Bittersweet (Truth North #1) by Sarina Bowen

synopsis_thumb2_thumb1

Farmers make the earth move.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

Warning: Contains sexual situations, gourmet yumminess, a steamy outdoor shower and proof that farmers don't mind getting dirty.

5 out of 5 stars

This was so fantastically awesome. I can't even begin to tell you how in love I am with Griffin and his family and how wonderful Audrey is. It was such a sweet, fun story that was incredibly well written. I was smiling the entire time! A must read for sure!!!

From the very beginning, I was grinning and that smile pretty much stayed on my face the entire time. Griff and Audrey building their relationship was so fun. Loved their chemistry and sparks as they reconnect. They really had a great build to their relationship as bits and pieces were laid out. It was just so freaking entertaining the entire time. Audrey was feisty and Griff was grumpy but they had an awesome, heated pull to one another so it was like they were circling each other for the longest time as everything built and they opened up. Loved their heat! It was so great. I was completely pulled in. Griff was just so incredibly sweet, I swear I wrote that in my notes 12 times!

Loved Griffin's family so much. Really great, endearing characters were introduced. I thought they, as well as Griff and Audrey were really well developed and well written. They just had this heartwarming family dynamic happening. Loved the little side bit happening with the Grandpa, that made me so happy by the end. Heck, it all made me happy. I'm excited about the other characters that were introduced as well. It makes me anxious for more stories. Bittersweet is a feel good book for sure, light but somehow filled with emotion making me fall in love with everything. It's had such a fun, whimsical vibe happening but with hints of underlying emotion. It was the perfect combination.

I absolutely enjoyed the writing style and the fact that this story was told from dual POV's. Loved the insight into Audrey and Griffin so much. Great build and details, I can't say enough good things. This is my first time reading Sarina Bowen and I am absolutely thrilled I got to do so. I can't wait for the next book in the series and Jude's story. He was such a great character too.

Loved the story and writing. Awesome characters. Awesome everything! And, I loved every single Star Wars reference there was, somehow for me, that was just icing on the cake and it just made this awesome story even better!
