Book Review: Mr. Heartbreaker by Piper Rayne

This was my first time reading Piper Rayne and it won't be my last. Mr. Heartbreaker was such a fun sexy read and I had a blast learning all about Rowan and Kyleigh. The first book in The Nest series is officially live!

synopsis_thumb2_thumb

I made a deal with my brother a long time ago to never date his teammates.

Technically, Rowan Landry, the hot as hell center for the Chicago Falcons, is no longer my brother’s teammate. Or his best friend. Their college days are long behind them, and they barely talk now.

Also, I’m not dating him—we’re just sleeping together. There’s a difference.

Except there’s not a lot of sleeping going on, and neither one of us wants to stop what we’re doing.

It’s all fun and games until my brother is traded to the Falcons, because Rowan doesn’t know I’m the new goalie’s little sister. Oops.

5 out of 5 stars

Mr. Heartbreaker was a super entertaining, incredibly sexy story and I had a fantastic time reading it. I loved the characters, the development and build, and watching Rowan and Kyleigh fall in love. There are playful, sweet scenes, a lot of hot ones (this baby was on fire!), and a nice bit of emotion and drama. I was excited while reading and had a hard time putting it down.

I really liked both Kyleigh and Rowan. I loved that moment when they connected, they had instant chemistry and I loved the pull they had on one another. It had a magnetic, steamy start and I was all in. I loved all their sexy times and fun flirting, how it was only supposed to be one night but turned into a hookup-only situation, but things don’t go as planned and feelings come into play. I loved them getting to know one another and letting their guards down. I felt for Rowan as I learned about his past and appreciated his vulnerability in sharing with Kyleigh. I felt for Kyleigh, what she was going through in her personal life, and why she was holding herself back from Rowan. It was all those details that really pulled me into the story and I thought there was wonderful growth in their relationship. I felt all the guilt Kyleigh had about not fully sharing about herself and couldn’t wait for the moment Rowan figured it out.

I loved the storytelling and how invested I felt right from the start. I thought it moved at a good pace and I loved the dual POVs. There was a nice amount of emotion and drama mixed in and I liked the conflict with her brother even though it stressed me out. It was a solid story with an excellent mix of entertaining and heated moments and kept me engaged the entire time.

This was my first time reading this author duo and it won't be my last. I’m glad I have more books to look forward to in the series because I loved meeting Rowan’s teammates and am excited about their stories. This was an awesome series starter for sure. I need more Piper Rayne in my life!

I loved my first book from Piper Rayne and absolutely enjoyed finding a new-to-me author to read. You know the ones, where you read one book and you want to add their entire backlist to your TBR. Who is the last new-to-you author you read and loved? Let me know!
