Book Review: The Swedish Prince (Nordic Royals #1) by Karina Halle

I devoured The Swedish Prince! It was an addicting read, one of those stories I couldn’t read fast enough. When it was over, I binged on the following two books set in the same world. Loved it!

I never believed in fairy-tales.

Never held out for Prince Charming.

Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off into the sunset with anyone. That was even more apparent when a senseless tragedy took the lives of my parents, forcing me to become the sole guardian of our dysfunctional household at the mere age of twenty-three.

Then a fateful encounter literally brought Prince Charming to my doorstep.

At first I thought Viktor was just your average businessman passing through, albeit obscenely handsome, six-foot-five, blue-eyed, and mysteriously rich.

But soon I discovered the truth behind Viktor’s façade.

Beneath his quiet, enigmatic gaze and cocky charm, is a man who is running away from who he really is. A role he’d rather not fulfill.

He is Viktor of House Nordin, His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince of Sweden.

Yet uncovering Viktor’s secret was only the first step.

I didn’t expect to fall in love with him.

I didn’t expect to have my whole life turned upside down.

When you’re from two different worlds, can your hearts meet somewhere in the middle?

Or do happily-ever-afters only exist in fairy-tales?

**A standalone romance inspired by the classic film, Roman Holiday.**

5 out of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this! It was entertaining, sweet, and heartbreaking all rolled into one. I loved the characters, the way the met, and the wonderful adventure that ensued. I was smiling and cheering all the way through!

Viktor, oh my, that man made me swoon. He was totally charming. He was so sweet and caring and a little lost and broken since he's dealing with some painful things. Maggie was a hard working girl and I felt for her and everything she’d gone through. I loved them both! I loved their hilarious first and second meetings and this beautiful romance that evolved as they get to know each other. I was literally smiling the majority of the time. Them coming together was sweet and emotional but also super sexy. I loved their flirting and the building heat.

I thought there was excellent character development as we learn about them and what they've gone through. There’s some drama and heartache but a whole lot of forgiveness and love as well. I really enjoyed the build to it all and couldn’t wait to see how it would play out.

There's a wonderful cast of characters and I really liked what they brought to the table. Maggie's siblings were awesome! Her brother Callum had me cracking up with every scene he was in. I loved the ending as well, I'm a sucker for an HEA that leaves me smiling, teary-eyed, and cheering all at once. I liked the fun humor and this crazy situation. I can't wait for the next books in the series. Technically it’s not marked as a series but it's in the same world so it's a series to me.

The takeaway... I had a blast reading this! Heartbreaking at times but also sweet, sexy, and outright fun. Loved this!

Note: Originally these books were not listed together in a series but at some point that got updated and the series has been named the Nordic RoyalsThe Swedish Prince, The Wild Heir, and A Nordic King have interconnecting character's in the same world. For me personally, I suggesting reading reading them in the order they were written, which is the order listed above. They’re completely standalone stories and you can be read in any order, I’m just rather fanatical about reading “in order” so I wanted to share my thoughts in case you dear reader, felt the same way.

I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that this was my first Karina Halle book even though I’ve purchased several over the years. Shame on me for taking so long to read her, she’s an amazing story teller. What new to you authors have you read this year? Let me know!
