From the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series comes a romantic comedy about instant attraction, second chances, and not-so-little white lies.

Sometimes I need an escape from the demands, the puck bunnies, and the notoriety that come with being an NHL team captain. I just want to be a normal guy for a few weeks. So when I leave Chicago for some peace and quiet, the last thing I expect is for a gorgeous woman to literally fall into my lap on a flight to Alaska. Even better, she has absolutely no idea who I am.

Lainey is the perfect escape from my life. My plan for seclusion becomes a monthlong sex fest punctuated with domestic bliss. But it ends just as abruptly as it began. When I’m called away on a family emergency, I realize too late that I have no way to contact Lainey.

A year later, a chance encounter throws Lainey and me together again. But I still have a lie hanging over my head, and Lainey’s keeping secrets of her own. With more than lust at stake, the truth may be our game changer.

5 out of 5 stars

A Lie for a Lie was so sweet and sexy and filled with so much love and emotion. I loved the build of the story and fell madly in love with Lainey and RJ. This was an excellent read and a fantastic way to kick off a series!

I'm not sure if I loved RJ or Lainey more, I thought they were both such great characters. I loved their very first meeting, it cute and funny and it really showed both their personalities well. Lainey's rather adorkable and a bit naive but she had this inner strength that was amazing. RJ seemed so genuine and caring, and super sexy. I loved that spark between them, the building attraction and heat. I loved their dialogue and interactions.

Of course, there's the lie that's in play… oh my goodness! My heart ached as the story continues. There's tension and emotion and a lot of heartbreak. I loved watching them reconnect, RJ’s pursuit of Lainey, and them falling in love again. It was just filled with so many amazing moments that were playful, flirty, and hot. I loved seeing how much Lainey had grown. I loved her protectiveness and strength. And RJ, oh man! I thought he was sexy before, everything in the second half had my heart exploding all over the place.

It was wonderful to have so many characters from the Pucked series be involved and get updates on couples and their kids. They're a fun bunch, sometimes crazy, and I thought they worked well in this story. Everything was so witty with a nice mix of tension and mild drama, but also a whole lot of feelings and I love how it all intertwined and built to an amazing HEA. Helena Hunting tells a heck of a story!

Note: The All In series is a spinoff of the Pucked series. The characters in the All In Series are introduced in various Pucked books. That being said, they can be read in any order. I normally am all about reading in order but somehow read these books out of order and still loved them all. Each book is completely standalone.
