Book Review: Texas Glory (Texas Trilogy #2) by Lorraine Heath

Western historical romances are my new favorite thing! Texas Glory was an excellent addition to the series and I can't begin to say enough good things. Dallas and Dee's story is everything and their journey blew me away!

She never dreamed of the happiness . . .

Cordelia McQueen is little more than a prisoner in her father’s house until he barters her off to a stranger in exchange for land and water rights. Now in a new place and married to a man as big and bold as untamed Texas, Cordelia prepares to live within her husband’s shadow and help him achieve his goals.

Only he could promise her . . .

Dallas has one driving ambition: to put West Texas on the map. Convinced he’s too harsh a man to be loved, he expects nothing except a son from his shy wife. But with each passing day, Dallas discovers a woman of immense hidden courage and fortitude. He is determined to give her his heart, even if it means letting her go to achieve her own dreams and find her own glory.

5 out of 5 stars

This was such an amazing story. Emotional. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Full of longing and love. Well written and thought out, this was a captivating read that I couldn't put down.

My heart was exploding by the end of this story and it was an emotionally, intense ride getting there. Dallas was so gruff and quiet but strong willed and determined. He's got a plan for himself and it was wonderful to see him navigate his way through everything as he worked towards his dreams. Cordelia was a shy, timed, naive woman in the beginning, and watching her blossom was a joy. It was painful learning her history but she had an inner strength that was incredible. There's a lot of assumptions happening between them and I wanted to shake them both at times but I loved the incredible build to them getting together. I loved the building trust, the ups and downs, and the gut-wrenching heartbreak. It just felt so raw and real and I was caught up in it all.

The writing was incredibly well done and I was pulled in the entire time. I really enjoyed the Leigh family and the characters introduced. I really liked the time span between the first two books and the updates on Houston and Amelia as well. I also love how the next story is set up for Austin and I’m excited to read it.

I am thrilled to have found this series. The characters are wonderful and I love the world the author created. There’s such a phenomenal build as everything develops and I was so pulled into the turmoil, growing feelings, and love. It was amazing!
