Since the first mention of Murhder, I have wanted his story. It was a long wait to get it but holy wow it was worth the wait! The Savior was an absolutely riveting read that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. One of my favorites of 2020!
The Savior (Black Dagger Brotherhood #17) by J. R. Ward
In the venerable history of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, only one male has ever been expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the Brothers no choice. Haunted by visions of a female he could not save, he nonetheless returns to Caldwell on a mission to right the wrong that ruined him. However, he is not prepared for what he must face in his quest for redemption.
Dr. Sarah Watkins, researcher at a biomedical firm, is struggling with the loss of her fellow scientist fiancé. When the FBI starts asking about his death, she questions what really happened and soon learns the terrible truth: Her firm is conducting inhumane experiments in secret and the man she thought she knew and loved was involved in the torture.
As Murhder and Sarah’s destinies become irrevocably entwined, desire ignites between them. But can they forge a future that spans the divide separating the two species? And as a new foe emerges in the war against the vampires, will Murhder return to his Brothers... or resume his lonely existence forevermore?
5 out of 5 stars
The Savior was absolutely stellar. Gripping,
exciting, intense, and emotional! It was everything I've come to love about
the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and so much more. 6 stars!
I loved Murhder, he was fantastic! Learning about him,
experiencing his pain and torment from the past, and how he was feeling in the
present, all the emotion in him, it was incredibly well done. I loved watching
him grow and heal, he went through such a transformation, it was beautiful. I
loved Sarah too! I loved how open, accepting, and trusting she was, how curious, and caring. She had such a great mind and I loved her interactions with
everyone and her attitude and how she wasn’t afraid to do the right thing. Murhder and Sarah are one of my new favorite couples. I loved the build to them
coming together and their worlds intersecting. They had a great attraction and
I loved the instant pull between them and heat. I loved them working through
everything and all the twists and turns.
I was thrilled to get more John Matthew and Xhex even though
it stressed me out. I also liked learning about Muhrder’s past with Xhex. I am
madly in love with the angel Lassiter and I love his antics and outrageous ways
but most of all I love how big his heart is and the subtle build to the sweet
things he does. There were so many relationships touched upon, bonds formed,
and healing happening. I always love the Brothers together and their fun
interactions. I love how all the different characters work into the story and
are mentioned.
The world that J. R. Ward created is amazing. It's so
elaborate and creative with amazing layers and an epic build. This story
reminded me of the first few books in the series, the ones that made me fall in
love with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series in the first place. It was
riveting! I loved all the drama and intensity, it was captivating, exciting,
and action-packed. There’s also a major moment I did not see coming which has
me really excited for the next book.
This book is one of my favorites of 2020 as well as a favorite
in the series and was a 6 star read for me! I was so pulled in the entire
time. Truly fantastic!
