I was in the mood for a paranormal romance and this book hit my radar. The Tyrant Alpha's Rejected Mate was so fun to read, I picked it up and never wanted to put it down. This was my first time reading Cate C. Wells and it won't be my last!
The Tyrant Alpha's Rejected Mate (Five Packs #1) by Cate C. Wells
Una
I keep my head down. In this backwards pack, females rank low, and my bad leg makes me damaged goods. It doesn’t help that I’ve never shifted. I don’t mind the late twenties single life, though. No one’s paying any attention as I build an illicit farmer’s market empire.
My roomies and I are doing it for ourselves, and if life under Killian Kelly is stifling, at least it’s predictable. We can deal.
But when biology finally kicks in, I lose my mind. I claim our alpha as my mate. And he rejects me in front of the whole pack.
It’s all good. It only hurts when I breathe. I’ll survive. That’s what I do.
Who wants an arrogant jerk for a mate, anyway? I’ve got a business to run.
Killian
To lead this pack out of the dark ages, I’ve had to be hard. Merciless. I don’t flinch, and I don’t make mistakes.
Una Hayes isn’t my mate.
My wolf might have some kind of strange infatuation, but if she were mine, I’d know it. And I can walk away, can’t I?
And if I keep coming back? If she starts living in my head?
I’m the strongest male in five generations. My pack scrambles to do my bidding. I can bring one quiet female back in line. No one can possibly be as stubborn as I am.
There’s no way I’ve ruined the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
I’m the Quarry pack alpha. I don’t lose.
The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate is a full-grown shifter romance. No cheating. HEA guaranteed. Intended for adult readers only.
5 out of 5 stars
The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate made for an awesomely
entertaining shifter romance that had me enthralled with the characters, the
pack dynamics, and intricate details. It was a new and exciting world to get
lost in. I loved it all!
Killian and Una were fantastic. From that very first moment
she claimed him and then he rejected her, I was all in! I loved the back and forth
between them after he rejected her and how hard he had to work to get back in
there. I loved Una and her strength and how she held her ground and fought her
feelings. I really liked learning their histories and how deep it ran. I loved
the build to all the dots connecting and Killian working out his feelings and
them coming together.
I love how this story was told from dual POVs but at times,
it almost felt like four because I got such a good sense of each of their
wolves as well. I loved their personalities and what they had going on as much
as I loved Una and Killian’s voices. It made it playful and fun but also
intense with a protective element. I was captivated by all the different aspects
and politics within the pack, the old ways versus the new, and the conflict
currently in play. Una’s friends were great and I loved the bonds she had with
them. There were several hints about their pasts so it would be great for them to
get stories. I need more!
This was fast-paced, fun, and exciting but there’s action,
drama, and a bit of angst as well. I enjoyed it all! The descriptions were
detailed, from the people and where they lived, to what it was like when they shifted.
It was that build and the entertainment factor and all the fascinating
details that had me hooked the entire time.
