I had a blast reading Accidental Attachment and fell in love with Brooke and Chase and their endearing and sweet personalities. I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading. It was pure entertainment and a guaranteed good time!
Accidental Attachment (It's a Funny Story #1) by Max Monroe
And Chase Dawson may be the hottest man alive and a super-talented editor to boot, but he’s completely oblivious that he’s the star of the manuscript he just convinced his boss to green-light.
Brooke Baker has been through a lot in her thirty-one years of life.
A divorce.
A career change.
A move to New York City from “small-town” Ohio.
Not to mention, she has a bit of a medical condition that involves occasional fainting spells, mild embarrassment, and the companionship of her adorable service dog and canine sidekick, Benji.
But none of it has prepared her for this.
None of it prepared her for Chase Dawson.
Strong jaw, blue eyes, cut muscles, and a perfect swoop of superhero-worthy black hair, Chase’s features are those of a book boyfriend and then some. Obviously, Brooke would know—she literally filled an entire manuscript with it.
A manuscript no one was ever supposed to see.
Will she survive two months of revising and editing the sizzling romance she imagined with Chase in extremely close quarters with him? Or will the constant white lies and overwhelming attraction make her spontaneously combust?
4 out of 5 stars
Accidental Attachment was a totally fun story with
the best internal dialogue and awesome, laugh-out-loud moments. I had a blast
reading it! I couldn't get enough of Brooke and Chase and the adorable
Benji. It was incredibly entertaining with well-timed humor and witty scenes
that had me smiling.
Brooke and Chase were fantastic! I instantly loved Brooke
and learning all about her crush on Chase and how she sent him the wrong
manuscript. Her thought process was hilarious and I liked her light, self-deprecating
humor. Chase was sweet and caring and I loved how he was there for Brooke and
championing her. The forced proximity situation was great as they traveled
together. I love their awkward moments and how playful and flirty they could be
and I adored it when their feelings were brought to the forefront. I laughed my
way through this and I loved them getting to their HEA.
I loved the conversations Brooke had with her dog Benji,
they were so sweet and cute. I also like how the book Brooke wrote played into the
story. I liked when Chase’s feelings started to click for him and he was seeing
similarities between them and the characters in the book. I enjoyed the overall
build to them coming together but their slow-burn romance was a bit too slow for
me. I loved the first half, it was lively and exciting and I enjoyed their banter
and growing attraction. I thought it moved at a good pace and was filled with
a lot of standout moments. I did like the second half, the fun scenes
were still there but they felt a bit drawn out and repetitive. I longed
for something to happen, some kind of drama or tension. I was thrilled when they
finally broke through all the sexual tension and the heat exploded. I was happy
to finally get to the drama and emotion.
This was a super entertaining, lighthearted, and easy read
that had me laughing and grinning my way through. It’s a story filled with
two charming and endearing characters, one loveable dog, and one motor home
full of antics and good times!
