Book Review: The Live-In Temptation by Brighton Walsh

This was freaking awesome! I had a blast reading The Live-In Temptation. I loved Xander and Chloe, their fantastic banter, and the sexual tension building between them. The second book in the Steele Brothers of Starlight Cove series is not to be missed.

Hiring the chaotic woman I pulled out of a shed fire to be my daughter’s nanny was a bad idea. Letting her live with me? Even worse.

Chloe Bradshaw is too vibrant, too bold, and way too young for me. She’s pure sunshine-in-a-hurricane energy and the exact opposite of the calm, steady influence my daughter needs.

But Emma adores her from the second they meet, and I’d do anything for my little girl. Including sharing a roof with the one woman I shouldn’t want.

Chloe’s the walking definition of off-limits. And one hell of a temptation I can’t stop thinking about.

Between midnight snack run-ins, hair-braiding lessons, and the way she looks in my stolen hoodie,
forbidden stopped being a warning and started feeling like a dare.

I swore I wouldn’t cross that line with her. Then I did. Again. And again.

And now, what we both swore was only temporary is starting to feel like it could be real. Suddenly, I’m not just her boss or her landlord. I’m the guy threatening to burn down anything that hurts her.

But the end date of our arrangement is looming, and her suitcase is still half-packed. She says she’s not staying. I say she’s already mine.

5 out of 5 stars

I absolutely loved The Live-In Temptation! The characters, the small-town charm, the wit and fun, the building emotion, and holy wow with the sizzling heat. I was excited from the first page, instantly loving Xander and Chloe, and sweet little Emma. This was incredibly entertaining with excellent development. You do not want to miss this one!

Xander and Chloe were fantastic! Their first meeting, when he's all kinds of grumpy and she's a ray of sunshine, was priceless. I loved them clashing and their fun banter since they were total opposites. I adored Xander and loved that he embraced the situation he found himself in and how he was doing everything he could for his daughter… including hiring Chloe as her nanny. And Chloe? She was an infectious light that brought joy and the best kind of chaos in the form of glitter. They had such a pull between them that they were trying to fight, but the chemistry between them was too strong. I loved them letting their guard down bit by bit as they let the other in. When those walls came down and that building chemistry exploded, it was smoking hot!

Xander’s daughter Emma was the cutest. I loved watching her come out of her shell with the help of Xander, Chloe, and his family. There were so many precious moments with her, and I loved them all. His family was the best. I loved the camaraderie with his brothers, their text messages had me cracking up. I loved seeing teenage Laurel from The Grump Next Door, she is the queen of snarky comments. I loved the bonds and friendships that Chloe formed with the girls in town and how those friendships bloomed. Then there is the pleasure pusher Mabel, who was a delight.

I switched between reading on my Kindle and listening to the audiobook, and I thought the narrators did an excellent job. I loved the duet narration and how it helped bring the story to life. This book gave me all the feels, it had me laughing, smiling, and swooning from start to finish. And the epilogue with the hook for the next book? That was awesome! I need book three immediately. This book was everything I needed!

I am a sucker for a single father romance. They're my kryptonite! Let me know who some of your favorite fictional dads are. I can never have too many on my TBR.
