Rock Chick (Rock Chick #1) by Kristen Ashley
Indy Savage, cop's daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy's employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicating matters, Lee has decided he's interested, Indy's decided she's not. But she can't seem to keep Lee out of her life when she's repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she's finding dead bodies).
Indy's best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee's challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.
5 out of 5 stars
This was so fantastic! It had just about everything I could have asked for.
Seriously entertaining! There was humor, hotness, and drama. Indy was a strong woman and I loved her. She had the best internal dialogue. Indy could be serious trouble but it was in this good, what’s-she-up-to-now kind of way that makes you shake your head and smile. Lee was so sweet and sexy. He had great alpha male ways but not over the top so I really liked him. Together they had serious chemistry and sexual tension! I loved the back and forth and push and pull of their building relationship and how that all worked since they’d known each other for a while. I loved when Indy gave him attitude and he would get totally exasperated, it was just fun. There was a ton of drama throughout but in the middle of it all, they had a really sweet growing relationship. It made me all kinds of melty!
I thought this was a well developed and full, detailed story with a great build and I was totally engaged. There were lots of characters introduced and I liked them. Indy and Ally's relationship was great and every scene that Tex was in, he pretty much stole the show. All the men involved were so intriguing and I wanted to know more about each of them (all their figurative pissing contests made me giggle). I liked the overall development of the mystery-suspense aspect. There were a lot twists and turns throughout that really kept it exciting. Even when the drama was escalating, in the middle of it all there were still bits of humor thanks to Indy so it was all just highly entertaining. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.
Fantastic story! Loved it all and I can't wait to read more in the series.
