This book came along right when I needed it! By a Thread had the perfect mix of banter, snark, and antagonism (my kryptonite!) so by the end of chapter one, I was all in! This story is not to be missed!

Dominic was staring at me like he couldn’t decide whether to chop me into pieces or pull my hair and French kiss me.

I got her fired. Okay, so I’d had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there’s nothing innocent about Ally Morales. She proves that the first day at her new job… in my office… after being hired by my mother.
So maybe her colorful, annoying, inexplicably alluring personality brightens up the magazine’s offices that have felt like a prison for the past year. Maybe I like that she argues with me in front of the editorial staff. And maybe my after-hours fantasies are haunted by those brown eyes and that sharp tongue.
But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to be the next Russo man to take advantage of his position. I might be a second-generation son of a… fill in the blank, but I am not my father.
She’s working herself to death at half a dozen dead-end jobs for some secret reason she doesn’t feel like sharing with me. And I’m going to fix it all. Don’t accuse me of caring. She’s nothing more than a puzzle to be solved. If I can get her to quit, I can finally peel back all those layers. Then I can go back to salvaging the family name and forget all about the dancing, beer-slinging brunette.
Ally
Ha. Hold my beer, Grumpy Grump Face.
Author’s Note: A steamy, swoony workplace romantic comedy with a grumpy boss hero determined to save the day and a plucky heroine who is starting to wonder if there might actually be a beating heart beneath her boss’s sexy vests.

5 out of 5 stars
This was an exceptional story filled with heart, humor, and heat that had me laughing and smiling my way through! A seriously scorching hot and hilarious page-turner! I loved the characters, the animosity and bickering, the tension and angst, the emotion and drama, and the building love between two stubborn and determined characters. This checked every box of things I love about romance!

This story kicked things off with a seriously hilarious
start and I was all in, rooting for Dominic and Ally. They had fun,
antagonistic banter, and bickering happening that had me laughing. Ally was
awesome. I loved her determination and fierceness as she worked to improve
things in her life. She was strong, beautiful, and smart, and I loved that she stood
up for herself. Mr. Grumpy Face Dominic is my new favorite. I adore characters
like this, full of attitude but there’s so much more going on with them and I love
learning the why behind it. There was an excellent build to their developing
relationship with off-the-charts sexual tension happening. I loved Dominic
and Ally’s vulnerable moments and when they open up and share as well. I loved
their struggle and conflict as they get closer and more emotion comes into play.
I was on the edge of my seat waiting for them to get together. These two are
scorching hot!
This was incredibly entertaining to read and the writing was
exceptional. A laugh-out-loud story that filled me up. There were so many
wonderful secondary characters in the mix that made it feel rich and full. Those
characters helped to create so many fun and meaningful scenes. There was great attention to detail throughout and I loved how some things came back
around at the end making it that much more significant.
This is one of those books I started reading and
everything immediately clicked for me. Humor and heart with a fantastic
amount of sexiness mixed in. I just had a blast reading this and losing myself
in Dominic and Ally’s lives. By a Thread is officially a new favorite!
Note: I originally posted my review for By a Thread on April 23, 2020, but I wanted to update it to reflect the new cover from Bloom Books. It was one of my Favorite Reads of 2020.
