Oh my goodness. I don't think I have enough words to describe just how much I loved Things We Never Got Over. The characters. The chemistry. The build. I was hooked from beginning to end!
Things We Never Got Over (Knockemout #1) by Lucy Score
Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.
Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.
Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.
There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.
5 out of 5 stars
There's that moment when you finish a really incredible book
when you just have to take a second to take a deep breath and absorb all your
feelings because it was so tremendously good and you can't voice all the good
it made you feel. You feel it in your soul. That’s what Things We Never Got
Over did for me. I thought this was a truly exceptional story!
I loved Naomi and Knox. I thought their chemistry was off
the charts! They had this amazing verbal sparring and banter happening that was
playful and entertaining. I loved the back and forth between them as they
fight their feelings and the foreshadowing about why that was. I liked learning
about the drama Naomi was dealing with and how her life got turned upside down.
Knox was an interesting combination of grumpy and complicated yet had a heart
of gold. I loved how the story developed and their histories were learned. Getting
them to their happily ever after wasn't easy and there were times I wanted to
yell at them both, but as every layer was peeled back and all of Knox’s secrets
were learned, it was totally worth it. All the building tension and heat had
me on the edge of my seat for Naomi and Knox to get together. When it happens,
holy swoon-worthy explosion, these two were hot!
There was an outstanding cast of characters. I instantly
fell in love with Waylay and her sassy and smart self, I felt for her and all
she’d gone through and adored watching her grow over the course of the story. Knox’s
brother Nash and friend Lucian were fantastic. I loved the bonds the men have
and the hints of their love interests and future stories. There were so many
standout characters that helped bring this story to life, creating priceless
and humorous scenes as well as some really touching ones.
This story was incredibly entertaining. There were
parts that were crazy outrageous fun that had me laughing and smiling. There were parts that made my heart hurt because of what Knox and Naomi had gone
through. I got choked up with emotion and ate up all the drama. It was a well-rounded,
detailed story with wonderful characters, the best build, and an awesome HEA!
