As an NHL player, relationships haven’t been my thing. Shrouded in secrecy and speculation, they never last very long. But then that’s what happens when you require an NDA before the first date.

Until Charlene. She’s like a firefly. She’s elusive, and if you catch her she’ll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty.

I caught her. And as much as I might want to keep her, I’ll never put the lid on her jar. Not at the risk of losing her. So I've let her set the rules in our relationship.

But as long hidden secrets expose us both, I discover exactly how fragile Charlene is, and how much I need her.

We’re all broken. We’re all messed up. Some more than others. Me more than most.

5 out of 5 stars

This was crazy awesome and I loved every second! Charlene and Darren had a heck of a story that was funny, sweet, sexy, and emotional all rolled into one. It was a wild ride for sure and made for a super entertaining read.

Charlene and Darren have a seriously interesting relationship which isn't at all as it seems. I loved learning about their inner workings, their pasts, where they're at in their relationship, and why they're there. Watching them grow and evolve was wonderful. I loved the build to their histories and them learning more about one another. Their relationship had been in such a steady place and learning the why behind it all was something else. This story was filled with so many hysterical moments, there's a lot of tension and angst, and a good amount of heat and emotion. I felt for them, my heart broke for them, and I was rooting for them.

I loved all the different characters, the other players and wives that have been in previous stories. I enjoyed those relationships and bonds and the family they've all made with one another. There were some fun connections happening that I didn't see coming but really liked. I got a kick out of Charlene's mother and the scenes with her. There were just so many entertaining moments happening that I really enjoyed.

I had a great time reading this and I was excited every time I picked up my Kindle. The more the story built and dots connected, the more Darren and Charlene's relationship made sense why they were how they were. The catalyst for why it all started to change was super funny too. I loved them shedding expectations and finding out who they really are together and loving one another. It was an excellent story!
