The Boyfriend Goal was so entertaining! I was thrilled to meet Wes and Josie and loved their playful banter and flirting. This story brought all the feels and just the right amount of heat, making for a fantastic series starter!
The Boyfriend Goal (Love and Hockey #1) by Lauren Blakely
Neither was getting locked out of a friend’s place wearing next to nothing.
Or spending the night with the sexy stranger who rescues me.
But I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone so getting out of the rest of my clothes with him seems like a good way to start.
In the morning, I learn the filthy-mouthed man with the talented hands is not only the hotshot new hockey player on my brother’s team: he’s also – wait for it – my brand new roommate.
I’m a good student turned good librarian. A rule-follower. I’m not the kind of girl who does complicated flings. So we agree to another rule: friends-only.
It’s not easy though. Wes is bossy, flirty and generous.
He gives me rides to work.
Pitches in at my library’s fundraiser.
Takes care of me when I get hurt.
And looks at me like I’m the only one.
Soon, I’m falling hard for my brother’s teammate.
Especially when Wes comes to my door and tells me exactly how he’d like to break our rules.
Every single one.
Tropes: A brand new MF teammate’s little sister, roommates-to-lovers, forbidden, forced proximity hockey romance that brings all the feels and heat!
4 out of 5 stars
The Boyfriend Goal was a cute, entertaining read
with just the right amount of heat mixed in. I loved Josie and Wes,
from that instant attraction to the build of their friendship as well as their
fun and playful banter to them falling in love. It had me invested the entire
time!
Wes was so swoon-worthy! I immediately loved him and his big,
caring heart. He was really sweet and gave the best flirt. I loved Josie and
the path she was on and how she was tackling the list her Aunt gave her and putting herself out there. I loved it when they first met, it was fantastic.
Their instant connection was sizzling, this starts out hot for sure. When Josie
and Wes meet again it was priceless. I liked them fighting their feelings because
of the obstacles between them. I liked watching that playfulness, teasing, and
flirting between them as their friendship really grew into more. When they can’t
hold back their feelings anymore, the passion between them explodes and it was
awesome.
I loved learning about Josie and Wes, their families, and
the hurdles they faced in their lives. I liked Josie's friend group and the humor
they brought. I liked Wes's teammates, the bonds they formed, and the
camaraderie they had. There were a lot of fun scenes that had me smiling.
There's also a nice amount of drama mixed in though I'd say it was mild drama
that was easily resolved. There were a few situations that I thought were
really amping up to real conflict but it was over in a blink.
This was an entertaining story that I absolutely enjoyed. The front half was
exciting and I was filled with anticipation for Josie and Wes to really be
together. The second half felt more drawn out to me but I loved how their
chemistry exploded and all the sexy times that were mixed in. I thought this
was a great series starter and I'm excited for the next book, The Romance
Line.
