I loved meeting Blake and Wyatt in the Campus Dairies series and was thrilled to dive into their story. It was entertaining and angsty and emotional, and I loved every second. You won't want to miss Love Song!
A Briar universe standalone romance featuring the next generation Off-Campus characters—where one unforgettable summer changes everything.
After a brutal breakup, college junior Blake Logan escapes to her family’s lake house in Tahoe, determined to shut out the world. Her plan is simple: no men, no drama. Until Wyatt Graham shows up. Four years older and far too good at getting under her skin, Wyatt is the living embodiment of a “bad idea,” and the guy who shattered her pride when she confessed her crush at sixteen.
With his music career stalled, Wyatt has come to Tahoe for inspiration. The last thing he expects is to find it with Blake. He’s spent years keeping his distance, convinced he’s all wrong for her, but she’s no longer the innocent girl he once knew. She’s confident, captivating, and impossible to ignore. And the slow-burning tension between them? It’s catching fire fast.
They both know this can’t last, but one reckless kiss turns into another, and soon they’re tangled in something that feels dangerously like more. Just as they finally give in to the pull, tragedy tears them apart, leaving their hearts in pieces.
But forgetting that one, nearly perfect summer? Not a chance. And when fate brings them together again, Blake and Wyatt must decide if this is a second chance…or the final verse.
5 out of 5 stars
Love Song was fantastic! The fun, the angst, the
emotion, the heart, the growth… I loved it all! I loved Blake and Wyatt and
the build to their incredible relationship. There was drama and tension,
awesome banter and playfulness, and a lot of passion I could feel. This was an entertaining,
well-developed story that had me laughing and getting choked up all at once. I
could not put this one down!
I thought Blake and Wyatt were exceptional characters. When they
both find themselves together at the lake house, I loved the instant bickering. Some of it was playful, some of it was cutting, all of it was entertaining. I loved learning
about their past and where they were in life. When they started to let their
guard down and their attraction started to shine through, it was everything. They
had amazing chemistry that I could feel vibrating between them. When they finally started
to go there, it was electric. The slow burn to that moment was perfect. I liked them working out who they were, what they wanted in life, and I enjoyed the
growth they both experienced. It was not all easy. Mixed in with the fun, there
were ups and downs, and hurt and pain. I loved all that added emotion and the vulnerability
it brought.
There was a large cast of characters, from their parents and
family friends to everyone’s kids, that I really enjoyed. The dads were
hilarious but could also drop some serious, heartfelt wisdom. I loved all the
different text chats, they came at just the right time and brought the perfect
amount of levity. I also enjoyed some podcasters that Blake and Wyatt met, and the
entertainment they brought.
I thought the development was spot on, and I loved all the
details and build. I was filled with anticipation while reading, and there were
moments when I felt like I was holding my breath. This was one of those
stories that stressed me out, made me laugh, had me swooning, cheering, and trying
not to cry, and I loved every second!
