Book Review: Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood #6) by J. R. Ward

I am totally addicted to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I hadn't read it in a while but when I picked it back up, I pretty much couldn't put it back down and have been on a total reading binge. The world, the characters, the storylines... I can't get enough!

synopsis_thumb2_thumb
In this "frighteningly addictive" paranormal romance saga there's a war raging between vampires and their slayers. Here are the stories of a secret band of brothers like no other—six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now a dutiful twin must choose between two lives...

Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is obligated to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive, and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body, but his heart for herself. She is drawn to the noble responsibility behind the emotionally scarred male. But Phury has never allowed himself to know pleasure or joy. As the war with the Lessening Society grows grim, tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, and Phury must decide between duty and love....

5 out of 5 stars

This was amazing! I loved the complicated characters and the elaborate and detailed world. I was hooked on every detail, loving everything learned and rooting for Phury and Cormia to get to their HEA in the midst of all the drama and personal battles. Excellent story!

Phury and Cormia have an intense relationship. I liked Phury, was mad at him and was pulling for him all at the same time. He was in a bad way fighting his demons and vices in addition to all the pressure he was under being the Prime Male. I couldn't wait for him to get to that moment of clarity where everything clicks and he finds his redemption. I loved Cormia, she’s a bit naïve and out of her element but I liked how curious she was. I loved watching her strength grow as she came into her own. As far as their relationship goes, with all the crazy surrounding them, I felt their story had a pretty slow burn happening but it was so worth it and so incredibly sweet.

This was a full story with a lot of different storylines, characters, and POVs involved. I like how it all overlapped and intertwined. There was just so much happening, it was awesome! I loved all the relationships happening between the brothers, the brothers and their women, the younger group of males, and the Chosen. There were a ton of great elements involved. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series.

J. R. Ward writes a heck of a story and the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is one of my all time favorites. It's detailed and descriptive and it paints an elaborate picture. This was filled with drama, love, and heart. It also had just the right amount of fun mixed in – those brothers can be quite funny at times. I got choked up, got angry, and was cheering for various individuals all the way through. This was a fantastic story for sure!

things-to-note_thumb2
I'm on a total book binge with this series! The last one I read was back in 2016 - no idea why I didn't continue on since that one was awesome - but as soon as I started back in, I've been inhaling them. They are all consuming addicting reads. If you're a lover of PNR or are wanting to try something new, I highly recommend it.

What's a series you find addicting and totally binge? Let me know!
