Book Review: Love Overboard by Kandi Steiner

This story and these characters consumed me! It was angsty and drama-filled, and I was here for it. I loved the intense journey that Finn and Ember went on. Love Overboard is now available!

From USA Today, #1 Amazon, and BookTok bestselling author Kandi Steiner comes a sizzling, second-chance romance set on the high seas—perfect for fans of Below Deck and readers who crave angsty, high-stakes love stories.

Ember Reed is finally living her dream: chief stew on a Mediterranean superyacht, sun-kissed days at sea, and the star of Close Quarters, the hottest new reality TV show. But just as she finds her stride, the producers throw her a curveball—by hiring the one man who nearly sank her.

Finn Pearson was the one that got away. The boy who kissed her like they had forever, then left without a word. But now he’s the chef in her new crew, and the cameras are watching their every move, innocent, or not.

Even on a superyacht, there's nowhere to hide from the past. Every stolen glance, every whispered argument, every lingering memory threatens to ignite what never fully burned out. And as the tension spills into their day jobs, even the dinner service is spiralling into disaster.

They’ve crashed before… but could eight weeks at sea be their second chance to get it right? Or will it be the storm that finally sinks them for good?

5 out of 5 stars

Love Overboard was an all-consuming, addicting story that I could not put down. I loved the angst, drama, and emotion between Finn and Ember. These two had a serious slow burn happening, and I could feel their off-the-charts chemistry reaching its boiling point. There was a fantastic build to these two reconnecting, and I loved all the details. It was an excellent second-chance romance!

I loved learning about Finn and Ember. I could feel the hurt and pain between them as they’re thrust together again. It’s messy and complicated, with a lot of bickering happening, but there were also these looks and quiet moments that were full of emotion. Watching them open up about their past truths, being vulnerable, and healing added a lot of depth that I loved. I could feel the pull between them as their attraction grew. There was a lot of tension as they fought their feelings because there were obstacles in their way. I was filled with anticipation for them to be together, and when they finally got there, it was dirty, hot, and passionate. These two were fire!

I liked the crew and how their different dynamics created another layer of drama. There were pot stirrers and crushes and heartbreak added to the mix, creating even more complications. I liked how all of that intertwined with Ember and Finn’s relationship because everything played off each other, helping to round out the story. I am a huge Below Deck fan, and I could picture it all playing out. I loved the descriptions and attention to detail, as well as how the chapters were structured to get a different perspective.

Every time I had to put my Kindle down and go back to real life, I was irritated and couldn’t wait to jump back in. This was 100% entertaining and I was hooked! If you’re an angst fan (which I typically am not), you are going to love this one!
