Happy release day to Runaway Road! I was thrilled to get an early copy of this book and pretty much dropped everything when it arrived. I loved Brooks and Londyn's story so much, it was a beautiful read filled with healing and love.
Runaway Road (Runaway #1) by Devney Perry
Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.
Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend.
She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.
Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

5 out of 5 stars
I loved the adventure that Londyn was on and how she found love when she was least expecting it. This was such a beautiful story of self-discovery. It was a wonderful world to get lost in. And oh my! How I adored Brooks, he was the sweetest! There was such a great build to them coming together, it was fantastic!

Londyn was such an excellent character. I love a strong
heroine who owns who she is. I found her incredibly refreshing and loved
how she put herself out there. I enjoyed learning about her and her past, her
friends, and all she was going through in the present. I understood the need
for freedom that she had and to be on the road. I loved Brooks, he was such a
sweetheart. He's a bit flirty, very caring, and had a protective vibe I adored.
I loved this instant attraction that they had and how it really built as they
started opening up and sharing. I was filled with so much anticipation as their
feelings grew. There were heartbreaking moments and emotional ones too but it
was also filled with fun scenes that had me smiling and really great dialogue.
There’s a nice cast of characters involved with a small-town
feel and a bit of a who-done-it element in play. I ate it up! I picked it up
and didn’t want to put it down. I was just fascinated by it all and what Londyn
had gone through and how she came out on the other side. I loved the different
POVs and really appreciated getting to know both of their perspectives and why
they both held certain things back.
There was a bit of mild drama, a whole lot of sweetness, a good
amount of heat, and a lot of emotion. This was a charming story of healing,
friendships, hope, and love and I enjoyed every second! It was the perfect
start to a new series and I’m excited where it all can go.
Complimentary copy received for honest review.
“When was the last time you had pie for dinner?”
“Can’t say I ever have.”
Her fork dove into the chocolate cream. She hummed and her eyes drifted closed when the bite passed her lips. She savored it, rolling it around in her mouth. The woman had a talented tongue—lucky pie. She moaned again, torturing me with the subtle sound.
She swallowed, then shot me a smile that was pure sex. “You’re missing out.”
I snapped my fingers, raising my hand in the air to flag down the waitress. When she came over, I pointed to Londyn’s plate. “I’ll have that.”

I love a strong heroine who owns who she is and Londyn was definitely one of them. What are some of your favorite heroines? Let me know!
