I am loving the Bridgerton series and An Offer From a Gentleman was the perfect addition. I hope you love Benedict and Sophie as much as I did!
An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons #3) by Julia Quinn
Will she accept his offer before the clock strikes midnight?
Sophie Beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball—or that "Prince Charming" would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.
Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other—except, perhaps this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid's garb whom he feels compelled to rescue from a most disagreeable situation. He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her. Yet, if he offers his heart, will Benedict sacrifice his only chance for a fairy tale love?
4 out of 5 stars
An Offer From a Gentleman was so fun, sweet, and
exciting to read. Benedict and Sophie were the best. This was an excellent
addition to the Bridgerton series.
I felt so much for Sophie and all the hardships she's
endured in her life. I loved the strength she had to keep moving forward to
make a better life for herself. Learning her history was heartbreaking. I loved
Benedict and how charming and caring he was. They had an exceptional first
meeting that had a Cinderella vibe happening and I adored that instant chemistry
and connection they had. I loved their playful banter, it was entertaining yet
laced with an undeniable passion. I liked them reconnecting and how the
circumstances were completely different the second time around and I was
excited to know what would happen next. There was a wonderful build to them
coming together and I enjoyed it all.
There's drama and heartache and longing, a bit of blackmail,
and a nice slow burn with some serious building heat happening throughout. There
are also some seriously witty scenes mixed in that had me smiling and laughing.
I love all the Bridgerton siblings and the fun they bring but I have a new love
and respect for Violet, the mother of all these crazy kids. I loved seeing
her quick wit and big heart.
This is such a great series and I’m enjoying the timeline in
which it's all developing as well as the details and build. I liked getting
glimpses of where everyone was at and loved the interactions of other characters involved
as well. As always, Lady Whistledown has the best humor and I love what she
brings to the story. I really enjoyed the building secondary story and the
interactions between Penelope and Colin and I’m looking forward to their story next.
This was a fast-paced, delightful read that had me rooting
for Benedict and Sophie to get to their HEA. I had a blast reading it!
