I can't believe the Knockemout series is over, but it went out with a bang with Sloane and Lucian's story. It was incredibly entertaining with wonderful characters, great scenes, and just the right amount of drama. Things We Left Behind was a fantastic story!
Things We Left Behind (Knockemout #3) by Lucy Score
Lucian Rollins is a lean, mean vengeance-seeking mogul. On a quest to erase his father’s mark on the family name, he spends every waking minute pulling strings and building an indestructible empire. The more money and power he amasses, the safer he is from threats.
Except when it comes to the feisty small-town librarian that keeps him up at night…
Sloane Walton is a spitfire determined to carry on her father’s quest for justice. She’ll do that just as soon as she figures out exactly what the man she hates did to—or for—her family. Bonded by an old, dark secret from the past and the dislike they now share for each other, Sloane trusts Lucian about as far as she can throw his designer-suited body.
When bickering accidentally turns to foreplay, these two find themselves not quite regretting their steamy one-night stand. Once those flames are fanned, it seems impossible to put them out again. But with Sloane ready to start a family and Lucian refusing to even consider the idea of marriage and kids, these enemies-to-lovers are stuck at an impasse.
Broken men break women. It’s what Lucian believes, what he’s witnessed, and he’s not going to take that chance with Sloane. He’d rather live a life of solitude than put her in danger. But he learns the hard way that leaving her means leaving her unprotected from other threats.
It’s the second time he’s ruthlessly cut her out of his life. There’s no way she’s going to give him a third chance. He’s just going to have to make one for himself.

Things We Left Behind was such a wonderful story!
I loved watching Sloane and Lucian battle it out with their verbal sparring and
antagonism as they fell in love, opened up, and worked through their past. I
loved the entertaining scenes that had me laughing, the emotional ones that had
me tearing up, and the steamy scenes that had me swooning. This was a
fantastic ending to a truly great series. Loved it!
I loved learning all the ends and outs of Sloane and Lucian’s
relationship from when they were young to the present day. There was a nice build
to their secret being revealed and I hung on all the details. There was so much
tension between them in the beginning but I loved when feelings started to
shine through and their cutting barbs became more playful. I loved watching
them grow and come together. And when they truly came together, I thought my Kindle
might catch fire. These two were beyond scorching hot. After the major
animosity was gone, I adored the light-hearted teasing and sweetness between
them.
The Knockemout series has an exceptional cast of characters
that I loved seeing again and catching up with. I loved the women together and
the fun moments they created that had me smiling. The men and their bonding
moments made me melt. I loved the friendship that Nolan and Lucian formed and
several new characters that were introduced as well. I enjoyed the drama that
has evolved over the course of the series, a bit of new drama that was
introduced, and how it was all wrapped up.
Spread throughout the story are great scenes and
descriptions that bring family and friends into the fold with lots of laughing,
drama, and tears and it made it all the more exciting to read. That being said, there was so much going on that there were times when the story felt drawn out as all
the details got hashed out. This was a long book and for me, it felt long at
times. My overall takeaway however is that this was an entertaining story with laugh-out-loud
moments and a nice mix of drama woven in.
I thought this was a really excellent way to end the
series. I loved all the goodness happening and the epilogue and bonus
epilogues were like the cherry on top. Excellent read!
