I was thrilled to head back to Knockemout and read Nash and Lina's story in Things We Hide From the Light. These two blew me away, this was small-town rom-com perfection! I was pulled in right from the start and never wanted to put it down!
Things We Hide From the Light (Knockemout #2) by Lucy Score
Too bad Lina’s got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to be dissuaded…even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.
5 out of 5 stars
I absolutely loved every single thing about Things We
Hide From the Light. It was everything I could have wanted from the fun,
entertaining scenes to the emotional, heartfelt ones to the playful
antagonism and building sexual tension. I loved all the characters, the
community of Knockemout, and the bit of mystery happening. I freaking adored
this!
Nash and Lina are so perfect for each other. I immediately
felt for Nash, my heart hurt for him, and all he was going through. I loved him
opening up and healing over the course of the story. I loved Lina and
understood who she was and why she made the choices she did. I liked learning
about her past and those moments when she truly let people in. Together they
were amazing! They had an excellent push and pull happening, a fire between
them that I couldn't get enough of. I loved them getting to know each other,
opening up bit by bit, the verbal sparring between them, the chemistry, and the
vulnerability. I liked how they were there for one another in the heart-wrenching moments and the sweet, lighthearted ones too.
The secondary characters and the town itself were wonderful.
I loved getting more Knox and Naomi and sassy Waylay. I am super excited about
Sloane and Lucian’s story and to get down to the nitty-gritty of what happened
in their past. The level of anger and pain between them is palpable. I loved
all the men and their male bonding, I'm such a sucker for that. I also enjoyed
getting more Stef and the storyline happening with Nash and Knox’s dad. There's
also a sweet addition of a furry friend and I adored those scenes! I loved the bit
of mystery mixed in involving Nash and the clues along the way. I was thrilled
with the conclusion.
This was so incredibly well done with a phenomenal build.
There was such fantastic attention to detail with Nash and Lina’s
relationship, the different friendship dynamics, and found families that kept
me turning the page as fast as I could. I liked the humor that was interjected throughout
that balanced perfectly with the more serious moments. This was one of my most
anticipated reads of the year and I'm thrilled it was a winner! Truly exceptional
storytelling!
