Book Review: Lover at Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood #11) by J. R. Ward

I adored Blay and Qhuinn's story. I've been dying for these two to get together since they were first introduced and I loved every second of their crazy, wild, and emotional ride!

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....

Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: it seems Qhuinn has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young. It’s hard for Blay to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. And Qhuinn needs to come to terms with some dark things before he can move forward…

Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions... but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together... finally become one.

5 out of 5 stars

My emotions were exploding as Blay and Qhuinn came together in this epic story. There was so much happening, so many characters involved, with fantastic storylines taking place. I loved it all!

Qhuinn and Blay have had an amazing build to their story so I was excited to start this book. I loved them both. There was so much raw emotion that I could feel. As things were learned and feelings where shared, I was so pulled in. They could be frustrating with their stubbornness and not talking but I totally got the why's behind it and why the held back. It was such an exciting read as everything came to light and they worked out their issues.

There are so many storylines happening and I am excited for what's to come in the series. There was so much depth and so many layers. There's drama and intrigue, fighting, and tension. It's awesome. I loved seeing Layla's strength, I felt she really came into her own in this book. I love the relationship she and Qhuinn have and the bond that they've formed. I LOVE the Xcor and Layla storyline and this whole forbidden love thing that’s happening. I really liked what was introduced with Trez. I'm excited with what's happening with Assail and Sola and the tangled web he's involved in. I’m also looking forward to what’s in store for Wrath and Beth. These books are like a TV show I'd binge watch, I can’t get enough!

I love everything about the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and this was a fantastic addition. Intriguing characters, intricate storylines, drama, and so much emotion (I totally got choked up with this one on more than one occasion). I really like the strides the overall storyline has taken. I feel like I'm on this wild crazy ride and loving every second of it.

Exceptional story about love and hope, forgiveness, and owning who you are and most importantly, family. Brilliant!
