Book Review: If You Keep Me by Helena Hunting

If You Keep Me was a wonderful story. I absolutely adored Flip and Tally! These two getting their HEA has been building throughout the series, and it was worth the wait. The final book in the Toronto Terror series is officially live!

Things I should never, under any circumstances ever do: ask my secret crush, aka. the most notorious (reformed) playboy in pro hockey, to take my virginity.

Too bad, I did.

After a string of terrible dates, I did the unthinkable. I propositioned Flip Madden.

Of course, he said no.
It isn’t that he’s almost a decade older than me, or that I’m still in university.
It’s because I’m his coach’s oldest daughter.

Not to mention my dad would bludgeon him with his hockey stick if he found out.
Which he won’t, because it will never happen.
And now things are awkward because there’s no going back.

Except Flip is more protective than ever, and his eyes follow me around every room we’re in together. He brings flowers to my recitals and reads all the books I recommend.

Things I should never, under any circumstances ever do: hope Flip Madden might actually want me too.

4 out of 5 stars

I adored If You Keep MeI loved the entertaining moments, the flirting and sweetness, the tension and angst, the vulnerability, and all the passion. Since book one, I have wanted more of Flip and Tally, and it was worth the wait.

I loved the journey Flip and Tally took me on. The moment Tally put it all out there for Flip, changing everything between them, was fantastic! I liked the bits of light conflict mixed in, since she was the coach’s daughter, what was going on with her family, and the media. I have loved how much Flip has grown over the course of the series. He was caring and thoughtful, and had several swoon-worthy moments. Flip had a secret of his own, and I couldn’t wait for it to be revealed. I enjoyed the intensity as their flirting heated up and I liked the pull between them. When the spice came into play, it was smoking!

I loved the found family Flip and Tally formed and all the different connections and bonds with the Terror and the Babe Brigade. I liked how Flip’s relationship with Connor has evolved over the years and where they are at. I enjoyed meeting all of Tally’s family and felt for them, but loved the healing they eventually found.

This had a great mix of sweet and fun moments along with plenty of emotion. There were some things that felt slightly drawn out, making me feel disconnected at times, but that didn’t take away from my overall excitement while reading. While I might not have loved this as much as the other books in the Toronto Terror series, it was still incredibly entertaining. I really loved the epilogue and all the different updates about everyone and where they were in their lives. I thought this was a wonderful ending to a phenomenal series!

Note: I Could Be Yours is a standalone story in the same world as the Toronto Terror universe and not part of the series, but there are connected characters.

This book was filled with so many great tropes - hockey romance, forbidden romance, age gap, reformed bad boy, friends to lovers, slow burn, and virgin heroine. Do you have a favorite? Let me know!
