I can't believe the Jamison Valley series is over. I loved each and every book and The Candle Palace was no exception. It was like icing on the cake!
The Candle Palace (Jamison Valley #6) by Devney Perry
Sometimes a single flame can ignite a love that lasts a lifetime.
Milo Phillips knows the meaning of pain. Suffering through the most intense physical agony of his life, he’s confined to a hospital bed to bear it alone. More than once, he wishes he’d died in the explosion that melted and mangled his skin. Darkness consumes him, snuffing all the joy in his life and leaving an empty hole in its place.
But one day, a flicker of light sneaks into his hospital room, driving away some of the hopelessness. For the first time in months, pain isn’t all he feels.
The flicker’s name is Sara Foster, his new nurse. Milo just hopes that Sara can see past his scars. Because underneath, his heart has begun beating again just for her.
5 out of 5 stars
The Candle Palace had a little bit of everything
that I love, sweetness and longing, conflict and drama, a little heat, and a lot
of love. It was a delightful read!
I loved Sara and Milo’s story. I always thought they were
both so sweet so I loved learning how they met and fell in love. As I read, even
though I knew they were together, I was still rooting for them to get together
as the story unfolded. It was so lovely with all these tender and wonderful
moments. I loved learning Sara’s history and the ups and downs of her life and
the conflict she had going on with work and her family. It added a great
element of tension to the story. Milo was so charming even though he was
working through so much pain and I loved seeing his true self emerge during his
recovery, he had such a big heart. They had a nice building love connection, I
enjoyed the development of their relationship and the conflict as they came
together. By the end, I had a big smile on my face.
This was an excellent story. It felt lighter, even though
some heavier content was touched upon. It was extremely well done with a nice
amount of depth and good character development that kept me hooked. I could
feel the building feelings, Milo’s pain, and Sara’s turmoil. It was all
awesome! It's a shorter story but it packed a punch and left my heart happy.
I have loved all the Jamison Valley books so much. From The
Coppersmith Farmhouse to The Candle Palace, this series is
officially a favorite!
