Book Review: Blood Fury (Black Dagger Legacy #3) by J. R. Ward

I'm loving the Black Dagger Legacy spinoff series. Blood Fury was an excellent addition! I really enjoyed the two stories that were unfolding and seeing all the brothers again. It was just what I needed!

In this sexy paranormal romance novel set in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward tells the story of two couples—both fighting to find love in the midst of the war with the Lessening Society.

A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family’s traditions. And he thought he’d found his perfect match—until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another.

Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody—and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love.

As the two grapple with Novo’s past and Peyton’s present, another couple must contend with a connection that is unparalleled—and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heart broken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love . . . and cost Saxton everything?

4 out of 5 stars

This was an awesome read! Novo and Peyton were amazing. Ruhn and Saxton were fantastic! I loved both of their stories. Them opening up, the emotion, the drama, the passion. It was all excellent!

I loved getting to know the real Novo and Peyton, their true selves they hid from others. I liked learning what was behind Novo’s rough exterior, her pain, and drama. I loved her becoming vulnerable, really trusting, and falling in love. Peyton had his coping mechanisms and I hated to see him hurt. I loved him working through his issues and really embracing his feelings. I loved that pull between Novo and Peyton, the antagonism, the fight, and the building heat. They were explosive together.

Saxton and Ruhn were wonderful. I have wanted Saxton to get his HEA after everything that happened with Blay. He's such a good, sweet guy. And after meeting Ruhn, the male with such a big heart, I was thrilled to learn they'd been paired together. I like their journey together. Saxton healing, Ruhn opening up. There was so much emotion and passion, it was sweet and sexy!

I loved seeing all the Brothers, some of the women, and little miss Bitty. Manny was awesome in this, I loved getting to see more of his personality. The writing was excellent and I loved the pace and character development. I loved the switching of the POVs, it kept things exciting and I was excited to find out who I'd hear from next. There’s a good amount of drama, some fighting, some light-hearted entertaining moments, a whole lot of passion and love involved

This is such a great series and parallels with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series perfectly. Blood Fury was another fantastic story in the Black Dagger Legacy series.
